Last night at the Monroe Charter Township monthly board meeting, Chief Joseph Hernandez had the pleasure of swearing in Olivia Merkle and Chris Manley. They were sworn in as fully certified members of the Monroe Charter Township Fire Department. Joining the long history of men and women who serve our township and county. They have both recently completed the Monroe County Fire Academy, earning their Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications. Please help us in congratulating them on all the hours of hard work they have put in over the last two years.

The Monroe Charter Township Fire Department conducted training exercises on our fire department boat on Thursday evening and this morning. Our firefighters practiced startup procedures, navigation, maneuvering the boat, and docking.

The Monroe Charter Township Fire Department reminds the community of a recurring safety concern during this time of year. The Lake of Monroe (formerly a quarry) located on S. Monroe is private property and not open to the public. Engaging in activities such as swimming, fishing, or walking in this area constitutes trespassing. Over the years, our department has responded to numerous incidents involving trespassers, including drownings, assaults, medical emergencies, water rescues, and more. We urge the public to exercise caution and be aware of the hazards associated with this location.
