🚨 FIRE SAFETY REMINDER – CITY OF MONROE 🚨

The Monroe Fire Department would like to remind everyone that open burning is prohibited within the city limits of Monroe, Louisiana. This includes burning in a barrel.

With dry conditions and extremely high winds expected this weekend, even the smallest ember can quickly ignite surrounding vegetation, spread to nearby structures, and create a dangerous situation.

🔥 Please help us protect our community!
Do not burn trash, leaves, or other debris.
Do not burn in barrels or other open-burning containers.

Stay alert to fire hazards and report any dangerous fire situations.

Your safety is our priority. One small spark can have devastating consequences. Let’s all do our part to keep our families, homes, and community safe!

A strong cold front will usher in very dry air today as relative humidity plummets between 25 to 35 percent with winds gusting out of the north up to 30+ mph at times. As a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect with the threat of rapid start and spread of wildfires.

On a flight? Keep it in sight. ✈️

When on a plane, keep devices where you can see them while charging. Do not charge e-cigarettes or vapes on the plane. Tell a flight attendant if you notice a problem with your device.

As Fire Prevention Week™ wraps up, Monroe Fire Department reminds you that safe charging habits matter all year long—at home, at work, and on the go.

Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower.

Feels hot? Stop using it. ⚠️

Stop using your device if it feels very hot, starts to swell, smells strange, leaks, smokes, or makes popping or hissing sounds.

Pay attention to these warning signs and share this reminder with your household.

For tools and rides, charge outside. 🚲

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging.

Take a moment to check your charging setup today. Keep the way out clear for everyone.

Our 2026 Fire Extravaganza was a tremendous success! We were excited to welcome 3rd and 4th grade students from local elementary schools for an up-close, hands-on look at our firefighters in live action. The students had the opportunity to experience the dedication, teamwork, training, and bravery it takes to serve our community.

From rappelling down the drill tower and climbing one of our ladder trucks to watching firefighters extinguish a building fire and a vehicle fire, the day was filled with excitement, learning, and unforgettable experiences!

Chief Williams would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the men and women of the Monroe Fire Department for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making this event possible. Your efforts help inspire the next generation while educating our young people about fire safety and the important work of our firefighters.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Monroe City Council, Monroe Police Department Bomb Squad, and Tim Gallien with the Monroe Civic Center for their valuable assistance and support in making this event a success.

It takes a team to make an event like this happen, and we are grateful for everyone who played a part! 🚒🔥

Educating today’s youth. Inspiring tomorrow’s heroes. Serving our community with pride!
