A ramped up version of right wing extremists tried to take over the U.S. Government on January 6, 2021. Now they have been encouraged by the election of the guy who inspired the rebellion, and promised blanket exoneration for their activities on that day. Marches and violent displays like this are how it starts. People laugh and turn their backs on the silly people dressed in military uniforms from a vanquished rebel army, until that army comes to power again, then are shocked at how we all let it happen. Cities throughout the country and all over Lousiana have shunned displays like the scheduled February 15, 2025 Janus Mardi Gras Parade featuring armed Confederate soldiers firing off mock weapons in our city streets, but the cities of Monroe and West Monroe Louisiana are obviously hoping that those fake weapons will someday become real, and that America will truly become great again, for some. Please consider signing the petition to enforce Monroe City Ordinances 12-200 through 12-205 banning the discharge of explosive devices along a crowded parade route during the February 15, 2025 Janus Mardi Gras Parade, by the same type of crowd that invaded our U.S. Capital on January 6, 2021.

Mrs. Juanita Woods
Monroe, Louisiana City Council Chairman
Representative, District 3

Dear Mrs. Woods,
We the Petitoners are asking that this matter be placed on the Janiary 9, 2025 Monroe City Council agenda. We are asking the city to enforce Monroe City Ordinance 12-203 prohibiting the discharge of fireworks, cap guns, replica muskets and cannon during the Janus Mardi Gras Parade scheduled for February 15, 2025. The ordinance is already on the books. We are only asking that it be enforced and that there are no permits or special dispensations to allow this organized activity to break the law. Enforcement of this Ordinance will not infringe on anyone's First Amendment Right to prance around in any frivolous costume they chose, but firing off incendiary devices in a densely populated area for entertainment purposes does not seem to be in the best interests of the citizens of Monroe nor of District 3. Thank you for your earnest attention to this matter.
