Smoke from wildfires in southern Georgia and northern Florida is being carried northward, making for a hazy sky across parts of north and central Georgia. These conditions will likely persist until this weekend, when a cold front and rain showers will sweep through.

Unfortunately, Georgia is only getting drier with each passing week without appreciable rainfall. How is the drought impacting residents?
➡️ Farmers are reporting delayed planting and field preparation, plus the ground being so hard that it is damaging farming equipment.
➡️ Very dry vegetation has necessitated more frequent issuances of Fire Danger Statements and Red Flag Warnings to communicate hazardous conditions for fire ignitions and spreading.
