Monroe Riverside District Master Plan

What will Monroe look like in the future, and how will we get there? The City is working with the Transportation and Growth Management (“TGM”) Program and a diverse team of professionals to refine Monroe’s vision for the riverside district, and we need your help! The Online Open House will have two pieces:
1. A live webinar on May 21 at 6pm where the project team will introduce the Monroe Riverside District Master Plan process and answer questions, and
2. An online survey to get community input on the project’s vision statement, goals, and options for the Monroe Riverside District.
To participate, go to www.monroeriversideplan.com to register for the webinar and sign up for project updates. We’ll send you an email once the online survey is ready.

I know many people have approached me about the needs for our food pantry. I have the needs posted on Benton County Recovers and here they are:
size 4,5,6 diapers, pet food, sanitizing wipes, cereal, oatmeal, fresh carrots, potatoes, coffee, snacks, & monetary donations to buy what we need. Umpqua Bank accepts cash donations in our 7704 account and we have a PayPal button on our website at www.southbentonfoodpantry.org.
We also, have had people in the community buy gift certificates from our local restaurants and then are given out in a pick a number lottery. This supports our local businesses and provides families with a much needed break from cooking at home. Thank you for your support!

04/14/2020

So, during this time of uncertainty, we must support our local businesses the best that we can. Over the last couple of weeks, a family has supported one of our local businesses by buying and donating 35 Benny's Pizza Joint gift certificates for our families. It would be amazing if we could support our other restaurants with this wonderful idea.

Thank you Benton County Emergency Operations Center for providing propane for 12 families! This will provide much needed relief for those experiencing homelessness, cooking needs, dry clothes and heating needs.

Feeding America

Each and every one of the 200 member food banks are receiving initial funds to assist them as more people than ever reach out for help. Here are a few ways the COVID-19 Response Fund is helping food banks across the U.S.:

✅ Purchasing shelf-stable foods, household and personal care items and cleaning supplies to distribute to people in need.

✅ Expanding and modifying food pantries and meal programs to accommodate safe-distancing practices such as mobile and "drive-thru" food distributions.

✅ Paying for fuel for mobile distributions.

✅ Changing the processes for walk-in pantry pickups to reduce the risk to staff, volunteers and the people they serve.

✅ Purchasing safety equipment like gloves and masks.
