Monroe Marshal’s Office led by Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr., had the pleasure of joining Monroe Housing Authority alone with Ms.Shelva Thomas on behalf of Director of Monroe Housing, William Smart and the Monroe Police Department. Ms. Thomas hosted a well organized and informative class. She is, as well as Monroe Police Department and other local agencies or bridging together to assist in making our communities safer and more pleasurable. CRIME has been on the rise here in our communities and the information received today was right on point. Monroe Housing Authority has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to decrease the crime rate in these areas over the last couple of years. Now, Monroe Police Department has come up with new ideas to lessen the crime in these areas by introducing a new piece of technology. BRING- Drone Initiative will soon be introduced in the area to help with crime. Monroe Housing Authority, offers a variety of services to the community. HI-SET is held at Burg Jones Lane Development, Literacy Garden with a harvest of vegetables, the Ross Grant for self sufficiency services also known as the STEM Project, Readiness classes like NOVA which is a 2 weeks program and OMCAP which Rev. John Russell is the program director.Monroe Housing Authority has 22 available openings for family housing.
