Update on Keller street improvements.

The storm drains and curb has been installed. Beginning Monday, weather permitting, driveways and sidewalks will be formed and prepped for concrete.

More information will come as information and timelines are provided to us.

Thank you for your patience as we work through these improvements.

I know we have received more rain than we would like to see. It causes flooding issues and wet basements and crawl spaces. One thing it also causes is overwhelmed sewers.

Back when we did the sewer project, one thing we did to help bring the cost of that project down was by inspecting sump pumps and their connections. Were there any connections to the sewer system, how many were there, and downspout connections as well. After these inspections were done, we saw a very large reduction in the amount of rain water that was entering the collection system. Enough that we were not backing up like we were prior to the project.

It appears that now, some of those disconnections have been reconnected and it is causing us serious issues. If you are one that reconnected your sump pump to the sewer, please disconnect it at once.

The picture shows the sewer at maximum capacity on only one end of town. This is not good. It costs the town a lot of extra money to treat water that does not need treated. It also costs us to have to hire someone to pump it out when we shouldn’t have to.

With more rain projected, this problem will likely get worse before it gets better.

The Town of Monroe has a new Solicitation Ordinance.

Any company or individual wishing to solicit business door-to-door within the Town of Monroe must first come to the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, complete a solicitation application, and receive approval before a permit will be issued.

Only those who have been approved and issued a solicitation permit may go door-to-door.

If someone comes to your door soliciting and you have concerns, you may ask to see their Town of Monroe solicitation permit.

We encourage residents to be aware of the new ordinance and to contact the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office if you have questions or concerns regarding solicitation within the town.

Thank you for helping us keep our community informed and safe.

Attention

Correction.

Beginning tonight, Brooks Construction will be in town to start the work on Keller and Andrews streets. They will be locating a few utilities such as the gas lines that they will be crossing during construction. We have been informed that this will not take very long and will allow them to not have to work tomorrow, giving everyone a peaceful weekend. Monday, Storm drainage installation will begin and Access to Keller Street will be limited, depending on where they are working. Work starts at 124 and moves south to Andrews Street. At any given time during construction, one of these two roads will have closures during construction but will be open to use after each work day.

Curb work and sidewalks will start after drainage, then asphalt. Work should last approximately 4 weeks or so, weather permitting.

The ball park will be accessible at all times either using Keller if able or Andrews street if able. Homeowners living on Keller and Andrews streets will always have access to their houses.

Good morning everyone!

Just a couple of things to pass along in preparation for this holiday weekend.

Reliable Trash Company will operate as usual this week. Your trash will be picked up Friday morning. Their motto “If in doubt, put it out”. Here is their holiday schedule for 2026 but you can also find it on their website at reliabletrash.company.

I also received notice that PayGov.us, our online payment provider, will be closed Friday, July 3rd. You can still make payments but should there be any issues, you’ll need to wait until Monday, when they return. The only thing I can do in office is accept payments and void payments, anything else will need to be handled by PayGov.us. I am not able to take off the convenience fee PayGov charges, no matter how much I wish I could. If you’d like to make an online payment, head to townofmonroe.in.gov and look for the Pay Utility Bill link, you will then be sent to PayGov.us to complete your transaction.

Don’t forget, we’ve got our regularly scheduled board meeting tonight at 6pm. Our meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at 6pm over at the Fire Station/Town Hall, 233 Tower Dr. As always, all are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Town of Monroe wishes everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!

Good afternoon everyone!

Just an FYI:

Tomorrow, June 11th, the town will be blocking off part of the parking lot to the west of the Brickhouse Wood-Fire Pizza and MonroeWellness, between the hours of 6am - 9:30am. There is an expected delivery taking place and the parking lot will open back up once the delivery is done.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Good afternoon to you all!

I'm sharing the most recent post from the Monroe Police Department Ind. page. They have again announced when they will be available for golf cart and UTV registrations.

Beginning:

April 18, 2026 from 9am to 1pm
April 25, 2026 from 9am to 1pm

It is required that all golf carts and UTV's be registered with the Town of Monroe. If you have not registered, please make plans to do so. You will need to come to the Monroe Fire Department located at 233 Tower Dr. here in Monroe.

All golf carts and UTV's driven within town limits are required to register with the police department. Even if you don't live within the Town of Monroe, you must register your vehicle. This rule applies to our neighboring towns and cities as well.

The cost associated with golf cart registration is $30.00. The police department is taking only cash payments at this time. Anyone driving a UTV will not be charged this registration fee since you've already registered with the State of Indiana.

You can find the Golf Cart/UTV ordinance #2025-5 on our website at https://townofmonroe.in.gov/ordinances under the "Streets" tab.

If you have questions regarding your registration, please call the Monroe Police Department at 260-692-6215 Ext. 12

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please give us a call at 260-692-6215 Ext. 10, you can also call or text Rachel at 260-519-0299 or email her at [email protected].

Have a great day!
