Mr. Bob Ellis, the namesake for the Monroe County Education Foundation's character award, passed away today. He was a champion of public education who loved to help children read and volunteer in any way he could to help our schools. Monroe County has lost a good man.

The Monroe County Education Foundation is very proud of all these students. They graduated from Alabama Southern Community College TODAY! They graduate from high school NEXT WEEK! Hard work and discipline can really pay off. These students are trained and ready to enter the workforce in good paying jobs. Congratulations!!!!!

I enjoyed spending time this morning celebrating National Reading Day with Ms. Johnson's 4th grade class at Monroeville Elementary School. I read "Oh, the Places You'll Go" to the class and we discussed where they would like to go geographically and professionally in their lives.
