**To the residents of the Huron River Joint Fire District**

On the November 4, 2025 there will be 2 issues on the ballot for the Huron River Joint Fire District. These are levies that have been in effect for some time. One has been in effect since 1991 and the other since 2011. Both of these are on the ballot as renewals. There is NO INCREASE in money collected. Due to fiscal responsibility, and to grants received through the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, The State Fire Marshalls Office, and FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grants, we have been able to secure over $650,000 in grants over the last 7 years. These grants have allowed us to replace safety equipment for the firefighters. This equipment has a shelf life of 10 years and costs roughly $4,000 per firefighter. We have also replaced our breathing apparatus. These have a shelf life of 15 years. The cost of each unit is roughly 7,000 dollars. A large ticket item that was received through a grant was a new tanker truck that replaced one that was 50 years old. This has allowed us to keep the levies at the same rate as they have been for many years. Without these grants, we would need to ask for more money to keep the high level of service we provide to the community.

The money collected from the levies goes towards equipment, supplies, utilities, insurance, building maintenance, vehicle maintenance, fuel and many other items that it takes to keep YOUR fire service running efficiently.

Please get out on November 4th and vote YES for BOTH levies.

Thank you,
