Monroeville Municipal Authority

Monroeville Municipal Authority The Monroeville Municipal Authority is Committed to Providing a High Quality Drinking Water that Meets and/or Exceeds All Established Government Standards

The MMA’s primary surface water supply is the Allegheny River. The Allegheny River begins as a spring in a farmer’s field in the upper Appalachian Mountains of northern Pennsylvania. It then collects in the Allegheny Reservoir (Kinzua Dam) and flows to the confluence with the Monongahela River. The Allegheny River Watershed encompasses 11,770 square miles and includes most of Western Pennsylvania

and parts of South West New York. The MMA water is drawn from the Allegheny River near Oakmont, Pennsylvania. The quality of the water from the Allegheny River can be affected by mine acid drainage, sewage treatment plant discharge, agriculture and livestock runoff, leaking underground and under river pipelines, leaking chemical storage tanks, river barges and railroad cars transporting chemicals.

The Monroeville Municipal Authority is letting you know that as our water customer you are affected by the Beaver Run Reservoir drought. On November 16, 2023, a notice was issued when the reservoir elevation triggered voluntary conservation. Due to the continued lack of precipitation over the past month, the reservoir elevation has continued to drop triggering a mandatory conservation order. If you receive this call, your drinking water comes from the Beaver Run Reservoir. Currently no customer is without water due to the drought, but conservation is now needed to prevent future restrictions. You can read the full mandatory conservation notice on our website at www.monroevillewater.org. Search the word ‘conservation’ for tips on cutting back water use in your home or business, and end all water use outside. With your cooperation over the past month and with operational changes, the average daily withdrawal from the reservoir has been reduced. The Monroeville Municipal Authority is working with the state on added measures to mitigate the impact on the reservoir. We will continue to update you as new information becomes available. Your cooperation and efforts to conserve water during this historically dry period are appreciated.

MONROEVILLE MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY -UPDATE ON COVID-19 MORATORIUM

Monroeville Municipal Authority customers unable to make their utility payments on time will not face late payment penalties or termination of service on their March 2020 past due balance.
The Moratorium will give residents a waiver of late payment fees due to the extenuating circumstances that COVID-19 is bringing to many households and businesses.
Numerous businesses and families are being financially impacted by the pandemic. The elimination of late fees is not a cancellation of water usage charges and accounts will still require payment.
The Municipal Authority encourages customers to pay their utility bills, but if unable to pay, they will be given additional time without incurring the regular penalty fees.
Customers are encouraged to call the M.M.A. office to make arrangements for their accounts and investigate what payment options are available to them. 412-372-2677
