๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’ Memorial Day ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekendโ€”it is a time to reflect on the courage, selflessness, and dedication of those who gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Many within the fire service have also answered the call to military service, carrying the same commitment to duty, honor, and sacrifice into our communities every day.

From our department to the families of the fallen and all who have served:

Thank you. We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’ Armed Forces Day ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, we proudly recognize and honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have dedicated themselves to serving and protecting our country.

In support of MissionBBQโ€™s Armed Forces Day appreciation event, our department assisted with a flag hoisting display to help recognize and celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our nation.

Many members of the fire service have also served in the military, carrying the same values of duty, sacrifice, teamwork, and commitment into their service to the community. We are grateful for all those who have answered the callโ€”both at home and abroad.

On this Armed Forces Day, we thank all active duty service members, veterans, reservists, and military families for their sacrifices and unwavering dedication to our nation.

From our department to all who serve:

Thank you for your service.

Today, three of our volunteers had the opportunity to attend Career Day at University Park Elementary and spend time with students discussing the fire service and emergency response.

Throughout the day, we talked about:
๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire safety
๐Ÿ  The importance of having emergency plans
๐Ÿงฏ Firefighter gear and equipment
๐Ÿš’ The tools we use to help protect our community

The students asked great questions and got an up-close look at the equipment and protective gear firefighters use on calls every day.

We always appreciate opportunities like this to connect with our community, educate young students about safety, and hopefully inspire the next generation of first responders.

Thank you to University Park Elementary for inviting us to be part of a great day!

๐Ÿš’๐ŸŽ“ Congratulations โ€“ Spring Essentials Program ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿš’

We would like to recognize the students of the Spring Essentials Program at the Westmoreland County Community College Public Safety Training Center (PSTC) on successfully completing the Interior Firefighting Module.

This is a major milestone and brings each of them one step closer to earning their FF1 ProBoard certification. The time, effort, and dedication required to complete this portion of the program does not go unnoticed.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our cadre of Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Instructors at Monroeville #5. Your commitment to training the next generation of firefighters, along with your professionalism and experience, continues to make a lasting impact.

A special shoutout to the members of the Monroeville departments who completed the program! We are proud of your hard work and dedication both in the classroom and on the training ground.

Keep pushing forward, stay safe, and continue building the skills that will serve you and your communities for years to come.

Be on the lookout for the Fall Essentials Program Flyer from Westmoreland County Community College on our page! It starts August 3, 2026.

Covering the Call While Supporting Our Neighbors!

While Swissvale Fire Department was operating on a 2nd alarm duplex fire, Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department #5 stood by to provide coverage in the area.

During that time, our crew was dispatched and responded as the first due engine and assumed command on a possible structure fire in Edgewood. Fortunately, the situation was handled quickly, and crews ensured the area was safe.

This is a great example of how mutual aid and station coverage keep communities protectedโ€”ensuring that even when departments are tied up on major incidents, help is always ready to respond.

Proud to stand alongside our neighboring departments and answer the call wherever needed.

The members of Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department #5 would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Pennsylvania Skill Charitable Giving Group for their generous support through the PA Skill Grant!

Because of this funding, our department was able to purchase five new sets of interior firefighter boots, helping ensure our members have the proper equipment to safely and effectively operate on the fireground.

Investments like this directly impact the safety of our firefighters and the level of service we are able to provide to our community. We are truly thankful for organizations that recognize and support the needs of volunteer fire departments.

From all of us at Station 5 โ€” thank you for your continued commitment to first responders and community safety!

๐Ÿš’โค๏ธ National Volunteer Week โค๏ธ๐Ÿš’

This week, we proudly recognize and thank the volunteer members of our fire department; the backbone of our organization and a true reflection of community service.

Our volunteers sacrifice their time with family, leave work at a momentโ€™s notice, and answer the callโ€”day or nightโ€”to serve and protect our community. Whether itโ€™s responding to emergencies, training, maintaining equipment, or supporting events, their dedication does not go unnoticed.

Being a volunteer firefighter is more than a roleโ€”itโ€™s a commitment to something bigger than yourself. It takes courage, selflessness, and an unwavering desire to help others.

To our members: thank you for your time, your effort, and your continued service.

To our community: thank you for supporting the volunteers who serve you.

We, at MVFD #5, are proud to stand beside you.

๐Ÿ”ฅGarage Fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Just this afternoon, Monroeville Communications alerted Monroeville Fire units of a garage on fire in Company 1โ€™s district. C-10 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from a split level residence.

Truck 5 and Chief 50 with a total of 4 volunteers quickly responded and arrived on the scene. Company 5 assisted with forcible entry, overhaul and flew the aerial for roof access if needed. Units operated on the scene for an hour before returning.
