May is National Bike Month! 🚲
To kick things off, we’re partnering with and to host a Walk/Bike/Roll to School event on Wednesday, May 20! Meet at Library Park at 7am, where students will join a bike or walk “bus” to either Mayflower or Monroe Elementary. Fun signs are highly encouraged! Register today with the link in our bio.
May is a month-long celebration of biking. A time to get inspired and encouraged to get on the saddle again or for the very first time! Biking is a fun, healthy, and sustainable way to explore your neighborhood with family and friends!
However you get around Monrovia, look out for your neighbors and “bear” in mind…
Neighbors riding bikes are vulnerable:
👀 Travel with Care – Look out for your neighbors, especially, children, the elderly and other vulnerable streets users.
🚗 Slow Your Roll – Slower speeds help keep everyone safe. Collisions caused by vehicles traveling at 40 mph are much more likely to cause serious injuries than at 20 mph.
🚦 Follow the Law – Be neighborly and obey all traffic signs and signals.
When riding your bike:
👷 Protect yourself – Wear a helmet. For riders and passengers under the age of 18, it’s the law.
⬆️ Go With the Flow – Ride in the same direction as traffic.
🚴 Take the Lane – Ride predictably, ride straight and avoid weaving in between parked cars – it’s legal to take the lane; just be sure to stay outside of the door zone.
