On Friday, May 29, at approximately 1:40 PM, the Monsey Fire Department was dispatched by MFC to a reported motor vehicle rollover with entrapment.

The first arriving officer confirmed one victim pinned inside the vehicle. 7-Squad arrived shortly thereafter and immediately began vehicle stabilization and extrication operations. Members successfully extricated the victim and turned patient care over to EMS for further evaluation and treatment.

We would like to thank Hatzolah EMS for their assistance on scene.

On Friday, 5/2/26, our members joined the Ramapo Police Department and Spring Hill Ambulance Corps at Ramapo High School for a mock DWI and extrication presentation.

The demonstration showed students the real life consequences of impaired driving, along with the coordinated efforts of police, fire, and EMS during an emergency response.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this important event and help spread awareness to keep our community safe.

On Monday, 4/13/26, members of the Monsey Fire Department had the opportunity to train at the MFTC on vehicle extrication and stabilization. Training was led by Chief Frank Santore and Captain Mike Celano of the Freehold Independent Fire Company (Monmouth County, NJ).

Members worked through multiple scenarios, including vehicle extrications and rollover incidents, sharpening their skills and teamwork in real-world situations.

As always, the Monsey Fire Department continues to train regularly to ensure we can safely and effectively serve our community.

Interested in joining? Stop by the firehouse any Monday night at 7:00 PM.

On Wednesday, 4/22/26 at 11:29 AM, the Monsey Fire Department was dispatched along with Department 6 for a F.A.S.T. Team and Department 17 for an engine to a reported structure fire at 161 Remsen Ave.

Within minutes, 7-2, 7-3, 7-1500, and 7-Tower were on the road. Shortly after upon arrival, 7-2 transmitted a Signal 12, confirming a working basement fire.

Initial crews stretched handlines, conducted searches, and located the seat of the fire in the basement, making an aggressive interior attack.

At 11:47 AM, a 2nd alarm was transmitted, bringing in mutual aid from Departments 19, 25, and 26. As conditions required, a 3rd alarm was later transmitted at 12:23 PM, bringing additional resources from Departments 10, 12, and 24.

Firefighters operated for approximately 4 hours, performing extensive suppression and overhaul.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rockland County Sheriff’s BCI and the Ramapo Police Department.

We would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance, including Spring Hill EMS, Ramapo Police Department, Orangeburg Fire Department for standing by at headquarters and covering additional calls, and Tallman Fire Department for covering our area while our resources were engaged.

After 20 or more years of talks and discussions, the current Monsey Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners, along with the help from the Fire Company, have succeeded in building a temporary prefabricated metal building, which will be used as a substation until a permanent one can be built.

Located in Wesley Hills, this garage will house one fire engine. The Chief had "7-Tanker" relocated there from our main firehouse on April 1, 2026, where it began responding from that evening. This new substation will primarily and better serve the northern portion of the fire district, which includes portions of the villages of Wesley Hills, Montebello, New Hempstead and the Unincorporated Town of Ramapo. In giving the officers and members of the Monsey Fire Department who live or work a closer location and apparatus to respond to, it should greatly reduce response times. It should also help lower fire insurance rates for property owners.

We would like to commend the Current Monsey Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners for succeeding where so many others have failed, the Village of Wesley Hills for their support and approval, and all our officers and members who helped. We look forward to this humble beginning of "7-101" to develop into something greater and more permanent.

5 Years ago, Firefighter Jared Lloyd laid down his life saving the lives of others after responding to a fire at the Evergreen Court. Thanks to his heroic actions, and the heroic actions of other Firefighters and members of service, all other residents escaped, except for one, Mr. Oliver Hueston RIP. There were many factors that caused and contributed to this tragedy which were preventable. To date, our Brother Firefighter Jared, nor Mr. Hueston have received no justice. Rest in peace, brother, you will never be forgotten.
