Yesterday, the Schuylkill Canal Association’s Grounds and Waterways Committee was out in full force performing some essential maintenance in preparation for the annual Schuylkill River Sojourn.

From clearing massive logs near the lock gate to scraping debris from the forebay inlet pipes, this crew got the job done!

A massive shoutout to the amazing volunteers who keep Lock 60 and the surrounding waterways safe, functional, and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. We couldn't do it without you! 💪🌳

Thank you to our friend and Historian Ryan Conroy for the truly amazing presentation on the Irish along the canal 3/15. Irish immigrants heavily shaped Phoenixville. They built the Black Rock tunnel and Schuylkill Canal, St Mary's, and provided the labor force for the industrial growth of the Phoenix Iron Company.We are a town built by immigrants and are beautifully strong for it.
