What does the Montague County Child Welfare Board actually do?

đź’ˇ Sometimes, it's paying an electric bill so the lights stay on.

🛏 Sometimes, it's providing a bed so a child doesn't have to sleep on the floor.

🧰 Sometimes, it's a gas card that helps a parent get to a required appointment, a car repair that keeps someone employed, or a few outfits for a child entering foster care with only the clothes they're wearing.

Every year, the Board helps children and families across Montague County by filling gaps during difficult times. We support counseling services in all seven school districts, assist kinship families caring for relatives' children, provide essentials like food, clothing, car seats, and school supplies, and help make Christmas special for dozens of local children. ✨

Many families don't need a handout. They simply need a hand up.

Our goal is simple: support children, strengthen families, and help prevent crises from becoming tragedies.

Because sometimes a little help at the right time changes everything. ❤️

Protecting children starts with awareness.

Do you know the signs of child abuse or neglect? Some things to watch for:

🔸 Unexplained injuries or frequent absences from school
🔸 A child who seems fearful, withdrawn, or overly hungry
🔸 Poor hygiene or clothing inappropriate for the weather
🔸 A child who mentions being left alone or unsupervised often

If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. Reporting a concern could save a life.

The Montague County Child Welfare Board is here to support our community's most vulnerable children. Learn more at mccwb.com.

It takes a village — and summer is a great time to look out for one another. 💛

As school wraps up and kids head outside, keep these Texas-summer tips in mind:

🌡️ Never leave a child in a parked car, even briefly
🏊 Always supervise children near water
đź’§ Encourage regular water breaks during outdoor play
📱 Make sure older kids have a way to reach a trusted adult
🏠 Know where your children are and who they're with

Our community is strongest when we all play a part in keeping children safe. If your family needs support this summer, let us know!

Right now, 117,000 children in America are
waiting for a family. đź’™

Not next year. Right now.

These are kids who have already been through
more than most adults ever will — abuse, neglect,
instability. And they are waiting for someone
to choose them.

Becoming a foster family doesn't require
perfection. It requires showing up. A stable
home, a safe space, and someone who refuses
to give up on them — that changes everything.

MCCWB is here to walk alongside you through
every step of that journey.

👇 Drop a ❤️ if you believe every child
deserves a safe home. Share this so someone
who's been thinking about fostering finally
takes that first step.

When a child cannot stay safely at home, family and close connections matter. đź’›
Kinship care and foster care help children stay connected to people they know and trust while they receive the support they need. ✨

If you are a grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or family friend caring for a child, you may not have to figure it out alone. Support may be available for kinship caregivers, and becoming a verified foster home can open the door to additional assistance.

MCCWB is committed to helping meet the needs of children affected by abuse and neglect in our community. Reach out today to learn more about how we help the Montague County community. đź’–
