❄️ Mercer County 911: The Snowstorm That May Give Us 5 Inches of snow or more, Who really Knows? ❄️
Mercer County, we need to talk.
Our upcoming snowstorm is giving very “mystery grab bag” energy. Forecast models currently range anywhere from five inches of snow or more — which is basically the difference between “light inconvenience” and “digging a tunnel to your mailbox like a determined groundhog.”
Since Mother Nature refuses to pick a lane, preparation is the name of the game.
😀What You Can Do Right Now:
**Park smart: Put your vehicle somewhere you can actually get it out of… even if we get a “15-inch surprise edition.”
**Fuel up everything: Vehicles, generators, snowblowers, your neighbor’s snowblower (with permission).
**Stock your medications: You may not make it to the pharmacy — and your pharmacist may not make it to the pharmacy either.
**Have a backup plan for oxygen or medical devices: Anything that needs electricity needs a Plan B.
**Prepare for slow travel or no travel: If you must go out and end up in a ditch with no injuries or damage, dispatchers can give you the number to the closest wrecker. Police officers will be tied up handling the most serious calls.
** Make sure that your cell phones are charged and you have an extra charging pack if the electricity would be out for an extended period of time.
** If you haven't been to the grocery store, now is the time. Do not wait until it starts to snow to decide you need bread, eggs and milk.
🙃What Not to Do:
Don’t call 911 for power outages: Call AEP. They’re the ones with the magic buttons.
Don’t call 911 for trees on power lines: Also AEP. Fire departments can’t touch trees tangled in live lines — nobody wants a firefighter turning into a light bulb.
Don’t use emergency services for non-emergencies: Our responders are here for true emergencies, especially during severe weather.
Final Word
We’ll be here 24/7, storm or no storm.
You help us by preparing, staying safe, and keeping 911 open for real emergencies.
We appreciate you, Mercer County — now let’s get ready for whatever version of winter decides to show up.
