The Montclair Police Department is investigating two separate cargo thefts that occurred on August 17, 2026, at the Anheuser-Busch distribution center located at 4545 Brooks Street.

The first incident (CR 26-3601) occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. A shipment valued at approximately $45,000, destined for Tucson, Arizona, was picked up for delivery but never arrived at its intended destination.

The second incident (CR 26-3562) occurred approximately one hour later, at 11:00 a.m. Approximately $25,000. worth of Anheuser-Busch/Pabst Blue Ribbon product was obtained after a purported subcontracting company submitted fraudulent documentation to arrange the pickup.

Investigators identified similarities between the two incidents and are investigating whether they were committed as part of the same fraudulent cargo-theft operation. Information provided regarding the trucking company, driver, and vehicles involved contained discrepancies and is currently being investigated.

The combined reported value of the missing cargo is approximately $70,000.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incidents, vehicles, driver, delivery company, or missing cargo is encouraged to contact the Montclair Police Department at 909-621-4771 (tel:909-621-4771).

⚠️ COMMUNITY SAFETY REMINDER: BE CAREFUL WHO YOU DONATE TO ⚠️

We want to remind everyone to use caution when approached for donations on the roadside or in public places. Unfortunately, donation scams and misleading solicitations do happen, and a heartfelt sign or emotional story does not necessarily mean the request is legitimate.

Before giving money:
• Verify the person, organization, or cause independently.
• Ask where the donations are going and how they will be used.
• Be cautious of pressure to donate immediately or only in cash.
• Consider donating directly through an established organization’s official website.
• If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and don’t feel obligated to give.
The photos shown are a reminder to pause, verify, and think before you donate. Wanting to help is admirable—but make sure your generosity actually reaches the people or cause you intend to support.

Please share this reminder with friends, family, and neighbors. Stay safe and look out for one another. 👮‍♀️💙

Panes previously served time in state prison for a series of commercial robberies committed in 2002-2003. He was released from prison in 2019 and is believed to be responsible for additional robberies beginning in 2023.
