I was grateful to join Latinos of Montclair and Fleet Feet Montclair for a 5K in support of those impacted by the recent earthquake in Colombia. 🇨🇴❤️

It was incredibly meaningful to see our community come together in solidarity with families and communities facing such a difficult moment. As a proud Colombian immigrant, I am always moved by the strength, generosity, and compassion of our community when our neighbors near and far need us most.

Thank you to Latinos of Montclair, Fleet Feet Montclair, and everyone who came out to run, walk, donate, and show their support. Together, we continue to stand with Colombia. 🇨🇴

Last week, we stood with local leaders, advocates, and faith communities in Newark and Ewing to send a clear message: New Jersey families should not be left to shoulder the growing costs of climate change while the biggest polluters avoid accountability.

In Newark, I was proud to join Mayor Ras Baraka and fellow leaders calling for passage of the Make Polluters Pay Act. In Ewing, faith leaders from across our state came together around the same goal — protecting our communities and ensuring those who contributed most to the climate crisis help pay for the damage it is causing.

From rising temperatures to extreme storms and flooding, New Jersey residents are already paying the price. The Make Polluters Pay Act is about fairness, accountability, and making our state more affordable and resilient for the people who call it home.

Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with us in this fight. We’re building a strong coalition across New Jersey, and we’re not slowing down. 🌎

Yesterday, I learned that two members of our Montclair immigrant community were detained by ICE on their way to work at Raymond’s and taken to Delaney Hall.

Let me be clear: they are not criminals. They are hardworking members of our community who deserve the dignity and respect that every human being deserves.

As an immigrant myself, I know the courage it takes to leave your country, your home, and everything you know to build a new life in a strange land. Our immigrant neighbors are part of the fabric of Montclair and our state.

We cannot accept the inhumane treatment of members of our community. Delaney Hall should be shut down, and as a legislator, I vow to do everything in my power to fight for its closure and to stand up for the dignity and humanity of our immigrant communities.

This is personal to me. I will continue to stand with our immigrant families and fight to protect them.

My heart is broken. 💔🇨🇴

As a Colombian, it is incredibly painful to watch the images coming out of Colombia, to hear about the lives lost, the destruction, the fear, and the families who are facing unimaginable uncertainty right now.

My first instinct was to check on my own family, and I’m grateful to know they are okay. I’ve also reached out to the Colombian Consulate to understand what is needed and, most importantly, how we can help.

To my Colombians — those at home and those of us living far from our beloved country — please know that you are in my heart. My thoughts, my prayers, and all my love are with every family affected by this tragedy.

In moments like this, we remember that Colombia is more than a country. It is our family, our roots, our home. And when one of us hurts, we all hurt.

Fuerza, Colombia. 🇨🇴❤️
Estamos con ustedes.

What a great way to spend National Night Out! 💙

It was wonderful celebrating with our Clifton and Montclair communities alongside our incredible first responders, local organizations, and neighbors. Nights like these remind us that strong communities are built through connection, partnership, and looking out for one another.

Thank you to everyone who made these events possible. It was so great seeing so many familiar and new faces!

Grateful for the opportunity to attend the National Conference of State Legislatures and tour McDonald’s Chicago headquarters!

Thank you to the team for a wonderful and educational visit — it was great to see firsthand how thoughtful McDonald’s is being about nutrition initiatives and workforce development. Conversations like these are so valuable for informing the policy work we do back home in District 27.

Special thanks to Braxton Plumber and the McDonald’s HQ team, Elena Margolis, and Jamie Ansorge of Cozen O’Connor for making this visit possible.

Was proud to join Elizabeth City Hall and the Latin District Association for the Izada de Bandera de Colombia yesterday, celebrating Colombian culture, heritage, and the vibrant community that calls New Jersey home. ¡Feliz Día de la Independencia, Colombia!

I was so moved to receive this thank you from the incredible staff at the New Jersey School of Conservation. Supporting NJSOC and the work they do connecting our students to hands-on environmental education is something I’m deeply proud of. Thank you to Kerry and the whole team for this kind message; it means more than you know.
