San Luis Valley Missing Persons

San Luis Valley Missing Persons This page is dedicated to sharing information regarding missing persons from in and around the SLV. It is a rural, vast and arid landscape. Thank you.

The is located in southwestern Colorado and Northern New Mexico. It is 122 miles long and 74 miles wide. It is home to approximately 47,500 people. Over the years, many people have gone missing from The Valley, never to be seen again. Known as “The Mysterious Valley,” it is a place that holds tight to its secrets. The small, tight-lipped communities, rugged mountains and miles of de

solate, unpopulated land make finding missing persons a difficult task for families and law enforcement. Missing person cases from The Valley are often overlooked by mainstream media and do not receive the attention each case so rightly deserves. However, social media has proven to be an invaluable tool in the recovery of missing individuals. One share is sometimes all it takes to break a case wide open and provide the much sought after answers for heartbroken friends and family. These people are all an important part of El Valle and they must never be forgotten. Let’s bring them all home. PLEASE NOTE: This page is not a Crimestoppers page nor is it run by a law enforcement agency or officer. This page is specifically and ONLY for the dissemination of information regarding missing persons in the San Luis Valley and to provide support and resources for the families of missing persons. We do not cover homicide investigations (unless the victim is a Jane/John Doe) or vandalism/property crimes. If you feel you have a credible tip about a missing persons case, please reach out to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Please DO NOT submit tips to the page. We understand some people might not agree with this decision and that’s okay, but this decision is final, nonnegotiable and is based on the advice of several current and former law enforcement officials who stated the BEST way to help is to report your tips DIRECTLY to them. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not message us or otherwise harass the page. Our goal is to keep the focus solely on the missing, thus we have a zero tolerance policy for harassment or spam. Offenders are subject to ban without warning. Please remember you can always submit tips to law enforcement anonymously.

🛑IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CHAFFEE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT🛑

The Chaffee County Sheriff is now allowing volunteers to participate in the search for Kaden Sites. Please see his statement below:

“Our search efforts for Kayden Sites will continue over the next several days. Future plans are in place even if the search continues for weeks. Although efforts will continue until he is found, a tapering response will start to be visible as several of our volunteers have to recover after putting a lot of strain on their bodies. We are very proud of their efforts as they have searched well over 3,000 linear miles. Thank you to all who have assisted.

We are no longer asking that volunteers from the community stay out of the area. However, we do ask that if you plan to enter the area that you take safety serious. The area can be extremely dangerous if you are not experienced in the backcountry. Please do not take unnecessary chances. Wear very bright clothing, don’t go alone, tell others where you plan to hike, bring plenty of food and water, prepare for our Colorado weather to change and make sure you are equipped with tracking equipment and a cellular phone. Our teams and other volunteers will still be working in the area so please be alert. Please do not leave any items in the Forrest. Items of interest are any items depicted in the AI generated photo of Kaden [pictured below] and, of course, Kaden himself. If you locate any of the following please leave the items untouched and call Chaffee County Dispatch at 719-539-2596. We are not making a cry for help as we will continue to be active but again, we no longer want to limit the amount of eyes that want to help his family.

Please be safe if you enter the area as we do not want to deviate away from the search for Kayden because of carelessness. We will do our best to continue providing the community updates on the search for Kayden.

The following message is what is being released by our Search and Rescue partners to those asking to assist:

‘Thank you for your interest in helping with the search for Kaden Sites. We appreciate your willingness to help. We are not actively preventing anyone from entering the search area. If you do enter the search area, we are encouraging and requesting the following. Private drone use is prohibited. Please park in the open fields near the Blanks Cabin Trailhead so that trailhead access is open for responders. Please travel with your ten essentials and be prepared to travel in uneven, varied, and wet terrain. Ensure to wear high visibility clothing and to work, at minimum, in pairs. There is a possibility we are looking for an immobile subject. Searching for immobile subjects involves moving slowly and stopping to look around you (including behind, below and above). If you find our subject and/or a firearm, please call 719-539-2596 (Non-Emergency Dispatch). Search planning for this incident indicates likely downhill travel. As such, we are asking searchers to focus East and South East of the Colorado Trail from the Blanks Cabin TH. Please respect private property boundaries.’”

🛑TODAY’S UPDATE REGARDING , KADEN SITES:

From the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Department:

“The search continues for missing CO man, Kaden Sites. Search operations continued most of the evening of 04-17-26 with approximately 130 searchers in the area. Weather conditions made searching, particularly aerial, tricky but our team powered through and covered a lot of miles. Approximately 1,500 man/women hours were spent searching yesterday. Unfortunately, Kaden has not been found.

Approximately 80 searchers are out ‘ground pounding and gridding’ this morning including additional drone teams and mules. We have called in many more technical teams with specialized technological advantages. There are also several specialized searchers organized by the family involved in efforts that are in complete cooperation with our management team so we can keep track of everyone and where they have searched.

Organizations joining the search efforts today include the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, Chaffee County Office of Emergency Management, Chaffee County Search and Rescue (North and South), Colorado Search and Rescue, Colorado Department of Corrections, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Mesa County Search and Rescue, Park County Search and Rescue, Western Mountain Rescue (Gunnison County), Pueblo Search and Rescue, Teller County Search and Rescue, Lake County Search and Rescue, Custer County Search and Rescue, Summit County Search and Rescue and Boulder Emergency Squad.

We continue to appreciate the outpouring of support from the community keeping our responders fed, sheltered, equipped and hydrated.

‘Please continue to keep the searchers and family members in your positive thoughts. Our team is determined as ever and staying strong. Please continue to stay out of the area. Yesterday we did have a few citizens go up to the area to search on their own and our teams had to be diverted to them because they were not on our list. We appreciate all the community’s support and willingness to jump in and help but we do not want our team’s attention on anything other than finding Kaden. We love you Chaffee County.’ -Sheriff Andy Rohrich”
