“In remembering them, we keep them alive and in celebrating them, we find ourselves again.”
For over two and a half decades, Hollywood Forever has been home to one of the most heartfelt celebrations in Los Angeles Día de los Mu***os. 🌼
What began as an intimate and humble gathering grew into a beloved tradition, a place where immigrant families from across the city come together to honor their loved ones and reconnect with their roots. Within the cemetery’s gates, we recreate the spirit of our towns back home , where celebrating the departed fills the streets with color, music, and life, y ese toque mexicano y Latino Americano de nuestra gente 🫶🏽
This celebration has become a bridge between worlds between here and there, past and present, the living and the dead. It reminds us that our ancestors are never far; they live on through memory, love, and the stories we continue to tell.
I am forever grateful to have joined this beautiful family over a decade ago, to share this space with my daughters, to watch them embrace their heritage, and to celebrate our ancestors surrounded by so much love.
I am forever grateful to my best friend and mentor, Maestro Ricardo Soltero, whose artistry and heart have shaped this tradition; for my beautiful madrina Celine; and for Tyler, a true lover of Mexican culture and history who has embraced this celebration as his own and continues to honor this sacred tradition by opening the gates to this majestic place❤️
Here’s to the 26th yr of remembrance, beauty, and deep connection , where the living and the dead meet in celebration, and where Los Angeles becomes one big altar of love, particularly during this most trying times: what honor the lives of those who have departed unjustly this year 🕊️
