Hello Marquette County,

Do you have a medicine cabinet that looks more like a time capsule? Expired prescriptions, mystery pills you don’t even remember being prescribed, or that half-full bottle of antibiotics you swore you’d finish? We’ve got you covered.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Drug Take Back Event on:
📅 Saturday, October 25th, 2025
⏰ 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
📍 Marquette County Sheriff’s Office

Bring in your unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications, and we’ll make sure they’re safely disposed of—keeping them out of the wrong hands and out of our water supply.

Here’s the important part (straight from the rulebook):

BRING: Prescription (controlled and non-controlled) and over-the-counter medications, ointments, inhalers, patches, non-aerosol sprays, creams, v**e cartridges and devices (with batteries removed), vials and pet medications.

DO NOT BRING: Illegal drugs, needles/sharps, mercury thermometers, aerosol cans, biohazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), flares, personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc.…), household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, chemicals, oil, or gas), acids or any v**e devices containing batteries of any kind.

Participants may dispose of solid, non-liquid medication(s) by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into a disposal box or into a clear sealable plastic bag. Blister packages are acceptable without the medications being removed.

This is your chance to do a little fall cleaning while also helping keep our community safe. It’s a win-win.

You can now safely dispose of unused or expired medications at the following locations:
📍 Montello City Hall
📍 Oxford Village Hall
📍 Marquette County Sheriff’s Office – Lower Level
Proper disposal of medications helps reduce misuse, protect our environment, and keep our communities safe. These boxes are available to the public during regular business hours.
