Officer Aranda and Officer Vaid received a call of a female pedestrian walking on the I-605 freeway. Both Officers responded and located an elderly female with some concerned good Samaritans. During their investigation, Officers were able to get in contact with the party’s son who was at his local Sheriff’s station filing a missing persons report. Officers learned the party had dementia and had gone missing from family earlier in the day. Officer Aranda gave her a ride and reunited her with her family. Great job by our new Officers!

Officer Singh consoles a toddler after their mother was involved in a DUI crash. Officers encounter different situations daily and this call was no different. It’s never safe to drink and drive. Don’t put your life, your passenger’s life, or other motorists lives at risk. The mother was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Child Endangerment.

Great job to the graveyard Officers and Field Training Officers that assisted in taking the child to safety.

🚨 Officer McNew Saves A Life 🚨

Captain Nuñez presented Officer McNew with a “Commander’s Commendation” award after his heroic efforts helped save a life.

Earlier this year a DUI driver allowed his vehicle to veer to the shoulder and crash into the victim as he changed a tire. Officer McNew discovered the gravely injured victim lying on the roadway, unconscious, unresponsive and losing massive amounts of blood with two severed legs. Without hesitation Officer McNew sprung into action and performed life saving measures. The victim was eventually transported to the hospital where surgeons were able to successfully reattached his right leg.  Treating physicians credited Officer McNew with the victim’s survival , specifically his instinct, incredible speed and technique in which he applied several tourniquets.

Officer McNew’s actions demonstrated the highest level of commitment the California Highway Patrol dedicates to the people we protect and serve every day.
