🦋 Can kids join?
Yes! The bike ride & journaling are open to all ages.

🦋 Is the route on streets or a bike lane?
We’ll ride the Southern Ave Greenway, which is a trail.

🦋 Where will we meet?
Meet us at the Green Picnic Tables. See post for reference map.

🦋Anything else to know?

🚲🏵️ 🦋✍🏽In collaboration with Healthy Active Streets & local poet, Xitlalic Guijosa-Osuna, we’re very excited to invite you to our upcoming event: Monarcas Mensajeras. It is said that monarchs are guides, carrying messages from our ancestors. This Sunday, October 25th we’ll learn about the cultural significance of Monarch Butterflies, connecting over cycles of life, and honoring our ancestors of all kinds.

🦋We’ll start the day by moving our bodies with a ~5-mile bike ride around the city of South Gate with Healthy Active Streets. Afterwards, we will slow down with a bite and a moment of ✍🏽 🏵️reflection with a journaling session led by Xitlalic. During the journaling session, we will also offer space to participate in a community ofrenda to honor loved ones. Journals/supplies will be provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

Please note that you do not need to join the bike ride to participate in the journaling session. Make sure to RSVP using the QR codes on the flyer or sign up through the links in our bio.

Are you ready to vote? The Midterm Elections are coming up on November 3, 2026.

We at Nature for All want to remind you of the power of your voice and your vote. This year we have the opportunity to cast our vote on measures that can benefit our environment and local community.

Why are Midterm elections important? During Midterm elections, every single member of the House of Representatives and one third of the senators are on the ballot. Federal offices, thousands of statewide, state legislative, and local offices and ballot measures will also be up for election. Important issues like health care, inflation, and funding for federal agencies like ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) are all decided by your representatives in Congress. You have the opportunity to make a difference on very important issues impacting your communities.

Have a plan and vote early! Here are a few additional tips to help you get ready to vote:

-If you are in line to vote by 8pm, stay in line until you cast your vote.
-Some early voting locations in California also offer same-day registration if you plan to cast your ballot before November 3.
-You can still register to vote in person on election day.

To register to vote you will need a form of identification:
- Driver’s license or state identification card
- U.S. Passport
- Student identification card
- Utility bill

We celebrate and honor Indigenous People’s Day, recognizing their profound history, rich cultures, and invaluable contributions to our world. This day serves as a vital reminder of the enduring legacy of Indigenous communities and their deep connection to the land.

Nature for All acknowledges the Indigenous peoples of the ancestral homelands, where we live and deliver our mission. We value the vibrant Indigenous communities and honor the lineal descendants of the Gabrielino, Kizh, Shoshone Nations of Southern California, the Fernandeño Tataviam, Serrano, and Chumash, and all federally recognized and unrecognized native and Indigenous people as the original caretakers of the lands and waterways of what is now Los Angeles County.

We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with local Tribal Leaders, whose wisdom and guidance are instrumental in our shared mission to protect our public lands and open spaces. Their traditional ecological knowledge, passed down through generations, offers crucial insights into sustainable land management and conservation practices. By working collaboratively, we aim to safeguard these precious natural resources for future generations, respecting the ancestral lands and the cultures that have flourished upon them for millennia. Our partnerships are built on a foundation of mutual respect, learning, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

We’d love to have you join us on Sunday, October 25th at South Gate Park for “Monarcas Mensajeras,” where we will be learning more about the cultural significance of Monarch Butterflies, connecting over cycles of life, and honoring our ancestors of all kinds. On Public Lands Day (September 26), Nature for All partnered with conservation corps and community based organizations from across Southern California to take care of the San Gabriel River. Volunteers spent the morning picking up trash at the East Fork, conducting Rapid Trash Assessments, and dam removals. It was a beautiful day of service that reminded us that when communities come together, we can make a huge difference in caring for our public lands.

If you weren’t able to volunteer on Public Lands Day, you can still make a difference:

- Submit a public comment asking the U.S. Forest Service to keep the Roadless Rule in place. You have until October 6, 2026, to make your voice heard. Comments can be submitted through Regulations.gov under Docket FS-2025-0001/RIN 0596-AD66.

- Sign our petition to ask for the continued protection and adequate funds and resources for the newly expanded San Gabriel Mountains National Monument!

Today, we celebrate National Public Lands Day – a day to give back to the forests, rivers, mountains, and outdoor spaces where we hike, camp, fish, ride, climb, explore, and spend time with family and community. These public lands also provide wildlife habitat, clean water, and opportunities for recreation and solitude.

One way you can stand up for public lands today is by submitting a public comment asking the U.S. Forest Service to keep the Roadless Rule in place.

The Roadless Rule protects approximately 58.5 million acres of inventoried roadless areas in our national forests by limiting road construction, and timber harvesting. These relatively intact landscapes provide important habitat and watershed protections while helping preserve our forests.

Now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is proposing to rescind the Roadless Rule.

Don’t know where to start? Follow these steps to submit your comment and tell the Forest Service why protecting roadless areas matters to you, your family, and your community. You have until October 6 to make your voice heard. Comments can be submitted through Regulations.gov under Docket FS-2025-0001/RIN 0596-AD66.

We’re gathering at South Gate Park for a nature walk and journaling session. We’ll start the evening with a light walk through South Gate, discussing the trees, the birds, and other creatures we encounter. Throughout the walk, we’ll pause to connect, sketch, or journal. Afterwards, we’ll end our day with nature junk journaling. We hope the evening offers moments of joy, wonder, and curiosity. To reserve your spot, click the link in our bio.

What to bring:

* Comfortable clothes - It’s getting cooler in the evening, so a long-sleeve or light sweater and pants are recommended.
* Walking shoes
* Water
* Journal (optional) - we will provide journaling supplies, but please feel free to bring your own.
