💼 Connecting Our Community with Opportunity!

Our recent Job Fair at the Monterey Branch Library was about more than finding a job-it was about creating connections, opening doors, and bringing opportunities directly to our community.

In partnership with Goodwill Careers Solutions and local employers, job seekers had the chance to meet face-to-face with businesses, learn about employment opportunities, ask questions, and submit applications-all in a welcoming and accessible space.

Programs like this are an important part of what libraries do. We aren't just a place to find books; we're a place where people can find resources, connections, opportunities, and support for their next chapter.

A huge thank you to Goodwill, our participating employers, our library staff, and everyone who stopped by and made the Job Fair a success! 💙

📚🦋 Remembering Dolly Parton at the Monterey Branch 🦋📚

The Monterey Branch created this special display in remembrance of Dolly Parton and the incredible impact she made through her lifelong support of literacy and a love of reading.

Through her Imagination Library, Dolly helped put books into the hands of millions of children and showed just how powerful access to books can be. Her legacy has a special connection to libraries and the work we do every day-helping people discover stories, grow as readers, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Stop by the Monterey Branch to see their beautiful display and help us celebrate a Tennessee icon whose love for books touched generations. ❤️📖

🍪 Mix, Bake & Create at Children’s Cooking Class! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

There’s something extra special about enjoying a treat you made yourself! At our Children’s Cooking Class: Sugar Cookies, young chefs ages 5–18 will get hands-on in the kitchen as they learn how to make delicious homemade sugar cookies.

But this class is about much more than a sweet treat! Participants will practice measuring ingredients, following directions, safe food preparation, and basic kitchen skills while building confidence and independence along the way. Cooking also gives children a fun way to practice math, reading, problem-solving, and teamwork- all without it feeling like a lesson!

💙 Why programs like this matter: Libraries are places where learning happens in many different ways. Hands-on programs give young people opportunities to discover new interests, develop practical life skills, and learn alongside others in a welcoming environment.
