We will gather at the Depot on Friday September 11th and walk with the children to the Head Start, Burks and Monterey High School. The Monterey High School JROTC Color Guard will be leading us on the walk. We will start the walk at 7:00 AM. We would be honored to have you and your families to attend and help commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9/11.

Good Morning Monterey. I went out for a walk this morning and I was enjoying the beautiful day so much I forgot how to get back to my house. I hope you can help me. The kind officers from the Monterey Police Department told me that I can hang out with them today, but I really want to go home. My humans are lost without me. Tennessee lost a true treasure with the passing of Dolly Parton. Her music made us smile, her kindness made us proud, and her love for Tennessee made her one of our own. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on for generations. 💔🎶

Dolly asked you nicely for over 50 years not to take her man. We trust there will be no further issues.

Our officers will be keeping an eye out for anyone matching the description: beauty beyond compare, flaming locks of auburn hair, ivory skin, and eyes of emerald green. 👀🚔

Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the generosity, and for always making Tennessee proud. 🦋❤️

ATTENTION!!!!!! MISSING CHILD ALERT

The child was last seen around 5:30 pm on Wednesday August 19, 2026 leaving his home in Monterey on foot. He is 5' 6" tall and weighs 172 lbs. He has blue eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing black jogging pants, maroon shirt, possibly a white undershirt and a visor.

Good Afternoon Monterey. A small dog was found on E. Commercial Ave close to the City limits. A kind couple picked the dog up and brought it to the Police Department. We used our scanner to see if the dog had a chip. Thankfully it did and we were able to reach out to the owner who came to the Police Department within a couple of minutes and picked him up. So, Elvis Aaron is on his way home with his human and all is well in Monterey!!!!!!

The Monterey Police Department is proud to announce that the Department has been awarded the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award. This award is given when the entire Command Staff has completed all three (3) Leadership Courses. This is a great personal accomplishment and says a lot about the importance of Leadership Training at the Monterey Police Department. Great Job Chief John Mackie and Lt Andrew Neff.

💜Overdose Awareness Day 2026💜
Yesterday, Power of Putnam recognized IOAD alongside 18 community partners and over 100 individuals. When our community comes together like this, it’s impossible not to feel hopeful! People representing prevention, recovery, parents, youth, faith-based organizations, non-profits, public health, treatment, and others united to recognize those lost to addiction, honor the lives saved, and celebrate in the hope that we share for the future.
We thanked our law enforcement agencies for their efforts to save lives in Putnam County and create a safer, healthier space for our community. Trees of Hope will be planted in each city representing our growth, unity, & continued effort to prevent tragic overdose deaths.

What a great day to be in Monterey!!!!! We were blessed by the employees from Wilson Sporting Goods this morning. They had compiled 16 bags of sensory support items for our Officers to have in their patrol vehicles when they respond to an individual who may be on the Autism Spectrum. These items will be invaluable for our Officers in the field. It is such a blessing when businesses believe in you and want to partner with you to serve the citizens in our community. Pictured are: Officer Marty Walker, Mandy Jordan, Stephanie Vinson, Angel Keen and Madison Kicklighter. The employees put together these bags under their Wilson Sporting Goods Action Day Program. Thank you Wilson Sporting Goods for your help making Monterey a better place.
