This is an exciting time for the Town of Monterey. Lots of people are expected to visit throughout the day. Please be mindful of pedestrians and be extra cautious when driving around town. Don't go bananas!!! ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Also, we would like everyone to be considerate of our local businesses. While exploring the festival, please avoid parking in their lots. These businesses rely on accessible parking for their customers, and we want to ensure they can continue serving our community seamlessly throughout the day. Fortunately, we live in a well-connected town with safe walking routes to the festival from Monterey High School and Burks Elementary School. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

At 2:26 pm, 911 received a call of an individual that had fallen from Bee Rock. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene. Once there, Monterey Police officers and Putnam County EMS personnel descended to where the individual was. They found a 9 year old boy and began life saving measures, but sadly they were unsuccessful. After some time the boy was brought back to the top of Bee Rock and was transported by EMS to the State Medical Examinerโ€™s Office. Our thoughts and prayers are with the boyโ€™s family and friends during this time. The Monterey Police Department would like to thank Monterey Fire Department, Putnam County EMS, Putnam County Rescue, Putnam County Fire, Putnam County EMA and Putnam County Sheriffโ€™s Office for their assistance today.

Merry Christmas from the Monterey Fire Department.
