Monterey Firefighters are responding to the Beartown State Forest for a Dirtbike Crash.

Mutual Aid assistance is responding from the Great Barrington Fire Department and Egremont Fire Department.

In anticipation of the upcoming heat wave, we have received several inquiries about donations.

Currently we are all set with water bottles, with a big thank you to the overwhelming amount who donated during the Butternut Fire.

We are accepting donations of Gatorade/Powerade/Propel and Liquid IV to assist with hydration during the hot weather. These will be used strictly for emergency incidents and trainings.

We ask that NO energy drinks or caffeinated beverages be donated.

Any donations can be dropped off at the Monterey Firehouse, 411 Main Road.

At 3:20pm this afternoon, the Monterey Fire Department was dispatched to the area of 340 Main Road for a Motor Vehicle Collision involving a single Motorcycle.

In less than 5 minutes, on-duty Monterey Firefighters arrived on scene and began treating the injured motorcyclist. Patient care was transferred to Southern Berkshire Ambulance.

Ladder 172’s crew established a landing zone at a nearby location off Main Road.

The patient was transported by Hartford Healthcare LIFE STAR to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and Otis Police Department. We thank them both for their assistance to our community.
