Ventana Education Programs

Ventana Education Programs Nature is not something separate from us.

Founded in 1977, Ventana Wildlife Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to conserving native wildlife and their habitats through science, education and collaboration. Ventana Wildlife Society has provided meaningful outdoor and virtual nature experiences to thousands of Monterey County youth, with over 60% of our programs free to underserved communities. We believe access to safe,

nearby nature must be prioritized as critical public health infrastructure and not just an amenity for a privileged few.

“We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.” - Andrew Goldsworthy

Let the summer adventures begin!

Secure your child's spot in one of our summer programs designed to spark curiosity and connection with the natural world. Through outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, and immersive learning, kids will discover nature in meaningful and exciting ways.

For our older adventurers, we’re offering unforgettable excursions and an overnight campout in beautiful Big Sur!

Alongside our work restoring the central CA condor population, Ventana Wildlife Society has a thriving education department. Our programs give local youth and families a chance to explore, learn, and connect with nature. These meaningful outdoor experiences boosts wellness and sparks a commitment to care for our planet.
Thanks to the REI Cooperative Action Fund, VWS has been awarded a 2-year grant to support our work! The Fund is a community supported nonprofit founded by REI that directly supports organizations doing the essential work in making the outdoors more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

October is California Farmer and Farmworker Month! Our California farmer-workers help to keep the kids in our programs eating healthy, organic, local and DELICIOUS– last week we picked up Fiesta plums and Asian pear-apples from our local farmer’s market – grown at Inzana Ranch in Hughs, CA. Thank you, Joye and Tony Inzana, from all of our staff and program participants!
