Theater for Kids begins Friday at Hilltop Park Center! Each week students will explore a different theatre concept through imaginative play using improvisational theatre games, movement with music, pantomime, and emotions. There are no scripts or memorization required. Focus is on fun! Classes also help students in their development of socialization skills/life skills such as empathy, teamwork, self-esteem, and communication.

New Free Little LibraryInstalled at Hilltop Park!

We’re excited to share a new community resource at Hilltop Park! Through a partnership between The City’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Monterey Public Library, a new Free Little Library was installed this week by Parks staff at Hilltop Park, giving children, families and neighbors an easy way to discover, enjoy, and share books!

This Little Library was made possible through a grant that Library Manager Kim Smith received from Scholastic Books in partnership with Dav Pilkey, author of the Captain Underpants and Dog Man series. This Little Library even has Dog Man painted on the side! An initial supply of Dav Pilkey books was received for the site and future inventory will be supplemented through community donations coordinated by the Monterey Public Library Friends & Foundation.

Thank you to the Parks team that installed this new Little Library and to the Library team for helping bring this idea to Hilltop Park! We look forward to the community connecting through a shared love of reading.

The City of Monterey Recreation Division is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Gymnastics Instructor to join our team and provide engaging gymnastics instruction for children from walking age through 10 years old
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching gymnastics in a positive, supportive environment and be able to lead a variety of classes that promote skill development, confidence, and fun. Applicants should stay current with the latest gymnastics trends and instructional techniques within their area of expertise.
Candidates must be able to work a varied schedule, demonstrate strong communication skills, and meet the personal appearance and dress standards of the Recreation Division.
