Join the City for a Budget Brew Drop-in Session at a local coffeehouse throughout Monterey to share feedback and learn about the City’s budget as well as the Roadmap to Resilience! ☕️🍵

The first session will take place this Friday, September 4 at Monterey Donuts from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. 🍩☕️

These sessions are part of the Roadmap to Resilience framework. The future-focused Roadmap will guide Monterey as we navigate the City’s budget deficit and work decisively toward long-term fiscal stability and a balanced budget for FY 2027-2028 and beyond.

The Fall 2026 Cohort of the First City Academy is accepting applications! 🏛️

The Academy is designed for City of Monterey residents to learn about city programs and services, how local government operates, and to find more ways to be involved in the community. To apply, please visit Monterey.gov/firstcityacademy

The Fall Cohort consists of 7 sessions on Thursdays from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm that begin in September 3 and run through October 15. Applications are open until August 24.

Just in time for Car Week, the sea lions are back at San Carlos Beach! 🦭🏎️ To protect both our human and animal visitors, San Carlos Beach is temporarily closed.

Our beaches are a rest point for these sea lions between their breeding grounds in the Channel Islands and the waters of Northern California.

Please remember to stay 150 feet back from the sea lions. They are protects under the Marina Mammal Protection Act and it is against the law to harass, pursue, or injure or cause a potential injury to them.
