As Camp Journey with Impact Montevallo concluded yesterday, we reflect on a remarkable week filled with learning, leadership, and lasting memories. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of campers and to help prepare them for an exciting new chapter.
On Thursday, campers were inspired by an exceptional lineup of guest speakers, including:
-Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Lara Alvis
-Maggie Alvis, Alabama's Miss Teen All American, who shared her Anti-Bullying and Mental Health Campaign
- United States Secret Service
-The University of Alabama TRIP Lab (Translational Research for Injury Prevention)
-Officer Holloway of the Montevallo Police Department, who presented an informative session on the dangers of va**ng, drugs, and alcohol
Throughout the week, campers participated in leadership development and team-building activities that strengthened their communication, confidence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. These experiences helped prepare them for a successful transition to middle school and the opportunities that lie ahead.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to our Junior Camp Counselors, volunteers, the administration and staff at Montevallo Middle School, our esteemed guest speakers, and our generous sponsors. Your dedication, support, and encouragement were pivotal in making this week a success. Together, you fostered an environment that enabled our campers to grow, learn, and develop lasting friendships. Thank you for your invaluable contributions to this initiative.
Special thanks to Taco Bell in Montevallo for sponsoring and providing lunch for our campers on Thursday!
To our campers—thank you for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to embrace every opportunity. Watching your confidence grow throughout the week has been a joy, and we are excited to see all that you accomplish as you begin your journey at Montevallo Middle School.
We look forward to seeing all of our campers continue to lead, learn, and make a positive impact in their school and community!
