May is Mental Health Awareness month. You want to steer your own path, but recognize when you are straying from that path. Make small corrections daily. Check in with friends. Do the self-care. When that's not working, have a plan. VA healthcare has apps for your phone. There's telehealth with little or no copay. Know that 988 isn't just for a crisis. If those interventions aren't working, talk to your VA clinic or CVSO about your options. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Our neighbors lived on land deeded to a Civil War Vet. This act was vital to the settling of the Great Plains.

Did you know? From the American Revolution through the aftermath of the Mexican War, the United States awarded more than 61 million acres of public land to Veterans and their heirs through bounty land warrants. For a nation with limited financial resources, the bounty land warrants served as an invaluable tool to encourage and reward military service.
