Next week we will have a series of very special events at the library. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:00 a.m., we will have Travel Trunk presentations based on materials provided by the Atlanta History Center.

Each presentation will be focused on a specific event or topic from Georgia's recent history. There will be a time for examining some artifacts from the events/topics, a time for discussing the impact and meaning, and some fun activities to learn even more.

The Montezuma Public Library was one of the few libraries in the state to be chosen to participate in this experience. We are excited about this opportunity and we look forward to seeing you at one of the events.

These programs are about Georgia history during the 1970s-1990s. The content of the programs and the value of the items to be displayed may be better suited to older children (over age 8) and adults.

If you have any questions about these events, please contact the library at 478-472-6095 or here on Facebook.

Explore 250 years of U.S. history through Georgia's public libraries. This summer, request a limited edition America250 library card from your local public library, while supplies last.

The cards are part of the Georgia Reads for America250 celebration. As part of this year-long celebration, Georgia’s libraries are hosting engaging events and insightful programming, as well as participating in a statewide reading challenge.

Are you ready? Are you really ready? It is time to have a lot of fun and learn and read at the library!

The 2026 Summer Reading Program (SRP) starts next week and continues to the end of July. There will be lots of fun events and, of course, the challenge of summer reading.

There will be weekly incentive prizes for all readers who are participating in the SRP and a drawing for prizes in early August for those who have turned in completed reading logs.

Be sure to pick up a program guide so you can keep up with what's happening at all Macon County libraries (Marshallville, Montezuma, and Oglethorpe).
