⛈️🌧️A prolonged wet pattern will continue in much of the South and Southeast, with rainfall possibly exceeding 5 inches over the next 5 days. Scattered flash flooding is possible, especially in urban areas and areas with saturated soils. Stay weather-aware and plan ahead!

A cluster of thunderstorms over AL is expected to push northward and into the area by this afternoon. This cluster is expected to bring strong to severe storms, capable of producing damaging wind gusts across north and central Georgia.

FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING
Freeze Watch issued March 15 at 1:52AM EDT until March 17 at 10:00AM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 20 possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, northwest, southeast, and west central Georgia.

* WHEN...From Monday evening through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.

HERE WE AGO AGAIN Macon County and Surrounding Area

WHERE & WHEN:

Severe Potential: Right now there is still quite a bit of variation in exact timing of the line as it pushes through North and Central Georgia and whether or not we will see isolated storms form out ahead of the line, but the general timing of the threats are below:

North and West Georgia: Sunday Evening through Early Monday Morning
Central Georgia/East-Central Georgia: Sunday afternoon (lower, brief severe risk) and then again Monday morning into early afternoon (primary concern).
Sub-freezing Temperatures: Expected both Monday Night/Tuesday Morning AND Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning.

IMPACTS:

Severe Weather: damaging winds and tornadoes are likely to result in downed trees/powerlines or cause some structural damage.

Numerous power outages possible.
Heavy rainfall with any strong/severe storms may pose a threat for localized flooding.
Sub-freezing Temperatures will pose a significant threat to crops and vegetation.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE:

MEDIUM to HIGH confidence on the occurrence of severe weather.

MEDIUM confidence in exact timing of severe weather.

HIGH confidence in widespread sub-freezing temperatures early next week.

🚨 Yikes! 😳 The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) just issued a new discussion and indicated the potential that our area may be upgraded to a level 4 out of 5 risk for severe storms on Monday! That is rare and will let you know when/if this happens. Bottom line, have a severe weather safety plan and definitely have a way to get warnings! I of course recommend the 12 On Your Side weather app!
