Throughout Firefighter Appreciation Month, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize and thank the dedicated Volunteer Firefighters who serve communities throughout Montgomery County.

Our firefighters give their time freely, leaving their families, jobs, and personal responsibilities behind whenever the call comes. Whether responding to structure fires, vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, severe weather, hazardous conditions, or assisting other public safety agencies, they provide an invaluable service to the citizens of our county.

The Sheriff’s Office is fortunate to work alongside these men and women on a regular basis, and we see firsthand the commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice it takes to serve as a volunteer firefighter.

Earlier this week, The Synapsory donated sensory calming kits to each of our deputies. These are often used when interacting with children or people who are overwhelmed, frightened, autistic or sensitive to stressful situations.

Some of the items in the bag include different types of fidgets, a color changing dog squishy, book and animal cards. We are grateful for such a wonderful donation to our agency as a helpful tool for the deputies.

𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐅’𝐒 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝟎𝟖/𝟐𝟏/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – 𝟎𝟖/𝟐𝟕/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies stopped a vehicle in the Jonesburg area for a traffic violation. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver continued driving for more than two miles before finally coming to a stop. Through the course of the traffic stop, deputies discovered the driver’s driving privileges were suspended due to an alcohol-related point suspension. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Failure to Signal, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to McDonald’s for a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. Deputies made contact with the driver, who admitted to consuming two “tall boys”. The driver agreed to submit to a Portable Breath Test, which indicated a BAC of .188%. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to a residence in Bellflower for a reported domestic disturbance. Through the course of the investigation, deputies learned the female had arrived at the residence intoxicated and attempted to climb through a window because she had no other access to the residence. This startled the homeowner, who initially believed someone was attempting to break into the residence. Deputies were able to calm the situation, and both parties were advised of the 12-hour rule.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies stopped a vehicle in the New Florence area. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies discovered the driver had two active warrants for his arrest. After confirming the warrants were active, the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the MC Jail.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies were patrolling in Wellsville when they observed a motorcycle being operated at 72 mph in a 35 mph zone. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the motorcycle and asked the driver to step off the motorcycle and return to the patrol vehicle. When the driver stood up, deputies observed a glass pipe, believed to be used for smoking methamphetamine, concealed underneath the driver. The pipe was later tested positive for methamphetamine. Through further investigation, deputies also discovered the driver did not possess a valid motorcycle endorsement. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit and Operating a Motorcycle When License Is Not Valid for Operation, Possession of Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphanalia.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies were in Jonesburg when they observed a vehicle parked in a handicap parking space without a handicap placard or handicap license plates. Deputies made contact with the driver, who advised she had a handicap permit. Deputies checked the driver’s information and discovered her driving privileges had been revoked due to a chemical revocation. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Driving While Revoked.

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐓𝐎 𝟐𝟗 𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐒

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 after receiving a report of an individual actively firing a handgun at another person following a confrontation. The reporting party advised that gunfire was occurring across a city street and that rounds were reportedly traveling in the direction of nearby individuals.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, 𝐚 𝟒𝟓-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐬𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚, who acknowledged retrieving a Smith & Wesson 5.7mm handgun and firing multiple rounds. The suspect stated that the rounds were fired into the ground in an attempt to deter the other individual. However, witnesses reported that the suspect entered his residence during the confrontation, retrieved the handgun, and then fired approximately four to five rounds in the direction of the other individual. Deputies were unable to locate evidence of bullet impacts in the ground where the suspect indicated he had fired.

During their initial contact, deputies observed the suspect consuming an alcoholic beverage and noted indicators of possible intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes and a strong odor of an intoxicating beverage. The suspect refused to submit to a preliminary breath test.

The suspect was taken into custody, and the residence was secured while deputies obtained a search warrant. During ex*****on of the search warrant, deputies seized 11 fi****ms, including multiple handguns and ri**es, am******on, fi***rm accessories, and other items of evidentiary value.

Deputies also located a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance that field-tested positive for the presence of 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬/𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐥. A spent 5.7mm shell casing was recovered outside the residence near the location where the shooting was reported to have occurred.

Following the investigation and submission of a Probable Cause Statement, a warrant was issued charging the suspect with 29 criminal offenses, including:

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was proud to have deputies at schools throughout Montgomery County this past week as students returned for the first day of school. Deputies assisted with student drop-off, traffic, and provided a visible law enforcement presence to help everyone start the school year safely.

We also want to recognize and thank our Local Police Departments who joined us in helping keep our schools and students safe. The cooperation between the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and our Local Police Departments is an important part of protecting the communities we all serve.

The safety of our students, teachers, staff, and families remains one of our highest priorities. We are committed to continuing to work alongside our schools, law enforcement partners, parents, and community throughout the school year.

The Sheriff’s Office has received calls from citizens reporting unsolicited emails claiming they are being served with a federal lawsuit or court summons. Citizens should be extremely cautious of unexpected emails, text messages, or phone calls claiming to involve a lawsuit, missed jury duty, arrest warrant, or other court matter, particularly when the sender demands immediate payment or asks for personal or financial information. Initial civil summonses are generally served through formal legal procedures and should not be confused with an unsolicited email, text, or phone call.

Scammers may use official-looking documents, court terminology, case numbers, judges names or even spoofed telephone numbers to make the communication appear legitimate. Do not click suspicious links or attachments, provide personal or financial information, or make payments by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or similar methods. Also Federal courts will not notify you of an arrest warrant or demand payment to prevent your arrest. If you still question the legitimacy of an email or phone call, please call your local law enforcement agency or a verified number for the court before taking any further action.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop in Jonesburg after observing a vehicle without a properly displayed front license plate. During the stop, the deputy learned the driver’s Missouri driver’s license had expired in June 2026 and that she had a prior conviction for driving without a valid license. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the High Hill area after observing a vehicle with excessively dark window tint. The window tint was subsequently measured at 19%. During the investigation, deputies learned the driver’s Missouri driving privileges were revoked and that he was currently on probation and parole for a controlled substance offense. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, during which deputies located a plastic bag containing, a crystalline substance, between the driver’s seat and center console. The substance field tested positive for Methamphetamine. The driver was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and booked pending formal charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Revoked, and Excessive Window Tint.

On 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, deputies responded to the Jonesburg area after receiving a report of a suspicious male standing in the roadway who appeared to be under the influence. Deputies located the subject and learned he was currently on probation/parole for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. During a search pursuant to his parole conditions, deputies located a plastic bag containing multiple prescription pills and a powdery substance. The powder field tested positive for the presence of Co***ne. Deputies also located a container containing a wax-like substance that field tested positive for Methamphetamine. The subject was arrested, transported to the MC Jail, and booked pending formal charges for Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Each year, members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office are proud to volunteer their time to help support the Montgomery County Old Threshers Association Tractor Cruise.

Our deputies provide traffic control along the route and es**rt the cruise from beginning to end, helping make sure participants are able to enjoy the event safely.
It’s always great to see so many tractors and community members come together for a tradition that celebrates our agricultural heritage and brings people from across Montgomery County together.
