During the recent North Alabama AirFest, several cadets and seniors had the opportunity to volunteer with the Friends of Army Aviation, an organization from Ozark, Alabama, dedicated to honoring Veterans and presenting the Army Aviation story to the American people through static displays of legacy Army aircraft and an associated ride program on the iconic UH-1H Huey helicopter.

Eric and Karyn Kaempfer, Operations officer and Administrator, gifted those Civil Air Patrol volunteers with a free flight in the Huey, as a thank you for helping.

At the end of the AirFest on Sunday afternoon, the Alabama Wing Commander, Col. Kim Miller, presented Friends of Army Aviation a certificate of appreciation for their kind gift of free helicopter rides for the Civil Air Patrol volunteers.

In addition, one of our own Civil Air Patrol members, Col. Jayson Altieri, was one of the pilots with this great organization and flew the Huey throughout the weekend.
