Did you know your horoscope sign might not actually be yours?

At the W.A. Gayle Planetarium, we can show you your real astrological sign based on your exact birthdate and where you were born, projected right on the dome using the actual constellations.

The thing is, the dates most people use for horoscopes were set long before astronomers discovered that the Earth wobbles on its axis. This wobble causes the equinox (spring and fall) points to migrate westward through the constellations and thereby shifts the constellations identified with a particular date. This means, for a lot of people, the constellation the sun was in the day you were born is a completely different sign.

Come find out yours this Saturday and bring all your space questions with you!

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory may have found the remains of an exploded star near the center of the Milky Way, just 26,000 light-years from Earth.

The remnant sits close to the supermassive black hole at our galaxy's core, a region packed with massive stars, dense gas clouds, and magnetic fields stretching across space. At least 1,700 years old and expanding at about two million miles per hour, this discovery is a reminder that our galaxy is still very much alive.

Have questions about discoveries like this one? Bring them with you. During the Night Sky Review portion of our program, our team loves diving into exactly these kinds of conversations.
