ALDOT recently welcomed transit professionals for specialized Drug and Alcohol Program training presented by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Safety Institute on behalf of the Federal Transit Administration. The training was held August 18–21, 2026.

The training covered two important areas:

• Substance Abuse Management and Program Compliance
• Reasonable Suspicion and Post-Accident Determination

The sessions were highly informative and provided attendees with essential information and practical guidance for managing compliant drug and alcohol programs, recognizing reasonable-suspicion situations, completing required documentation, and making appropriate post-accident determinations.

Training opportunities like this help Alabama’s transit agencies make informed decisions, maintain federal compliance, and reinforce their commitment to workplace and public safety. 😄

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a tremendous success. Special thanks to the Transportation Safety Institute instructors, ALDOT staff, Alabama RTAP, and the participating transit agencies for making this valuable training opportunity possible.👏

🚦 Traffic Awareness Thursday | Week 4

As we wrap up National Traffic Awareness Month, we’re focusing on one final reminder: awareness matters at every stop and intersection.

Pedestrians and cyclists can be especially vulnerable around transit stops, crosswalks, and intersections. Staying alert and anticipating their movements gives transit drivers more time to respond and helps protect everyone sharing the roadway. 🚶🚲🚌

Thank you to our transit professionals for making safety a priority every day! ❤️💙

This Wellness Wednesday, we’re focusing on Social Wellness and the role healthy boundaries play in helping professions. 😄

When your work centers around serving others, it’s important to protect the time and energy you need to continue showing up with care. Healthy boundaries aren’t about caring less—they help create a healthier, more sustainable way to care for others and yourself.

As we continue recognizing National Wellness Month, remember that your well-being matters, too. ❤️
