Hello Voters. Tomorrow the national election will be closely monitored. Your vote has never been as important than it is this year. Results may continue to trickle in for days to come.
Folks within the City limits of Montgomery vote at the American Legion Post 79 between 7 am and 8 pm. You are encouraged to proudly wear your “I Voted” sticker!
For months I have been reaching out to citizens across Montgomery and I appreciate the time and attention given during our conversations. It has been an opportunity to listen and learn about your concerns and priorities. Thank you for being open with your opinions. And thank you for your support.
If elected, conversations with constituents will be my #1 priority. The responsibility of a City Council person is to represent those living within Montgomery. What it is NOT is a position of control or self-promotion. Representing you and this great City is a privilege. It requires I earn your trust, respect and confidence.
I believe firmly that a fresh perspective with years of professional, community and volunteer experience is critical for our community. The future potential for Montgomery is expanding. The vitality of the City depends on strong residential and commercial business base. It also depends on maintenance of City roads and infrastructure.
I will work collaboratively with the entire City Council, Mayor, boards, authorities and commissions as well as City staff to implement City comprehensive plans which are in place through the year 2025. Informing and educating citizens of these plans and progress toward successful implementation is a way to keep the dialogue between you and I open as a City Council person. I will be available to you whenever it is necessary for you to reach out.
The livability of Montgomery depends on the safety and amenities available. Continuing the expansion and maintenance of parks and trails has been a passion of mine for the past several years. Working with the Parks Board has allowed me to have a more hands on experience with moving things forward, such as the sledding hill at the 56-acre North Ridge Park and upcoming installation of the new hockey rink at Northside Park.
The same is true of supporting the Police Department in its efforts to keep our community safe. Equipment, technology, and training are essential for “effective and efficient community policing,” to quote Mayor Eisert. The department’s working space is insufficient and the cost of properly staffing is needed to sustain our outstanding first responder services. In the future a strategic plan will be developed to fulfill the needs of the fire and ambulance services as well. I respect the work required of all of the first responders and have needed to use each at some point in my life here in the extended Montgomery area.
Montgomery has recently and continues to become more and more diverse as new homes are built and families move to our City. I feel diversity is relevant to the future of any community and want to celebrate long standing Czech traditions while opening doors to learn about the traditions of other cultures. Well balanced business and government are also important aspects of diversity. The difference of perspectives and experiences leads to improved results.
I want to thank those who have supported me and consider me to be their candidate of choice for City Council. I also want to recognize the efforts put forth by all the candidates. Each one of us cares about Montgomery. We are equally committed to its success and the satisfaction of its residents.
