Today marks an exciting milestone for healthcare in Alabama as the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences welcomes its inaugural class!

Alabama's hospitals understand that building a healthier Alabama begins with preparing the next generation of nurses, technicians, clinicians and healthcare innovators. ASHS is creating new pathways for young Alabamians to explore meaningful careers, gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to serve communities across our state—especially in rural areas.

We’re proud to support a school that will help strengthen and expand Alabama’s healthcare workforce for generations to come. Congratulations to the students, families, faculty and staff making history today!

What an incredible start to our IP Bootcamp!

On July 30 and 31, we welcomed a highly engaged group of Infection Preventionists and healthcare professionals for the first two days of this four-part educational series.

Designed for those newer to the field and professionals actively involved in hospital infection prevention and control, the sessions offered opportunities to build knowledge, share experiences, ask thoughtful questions, and connect with peers.

Thank you to everyone who participated and brought such enthusiasm to the first two days. We look forward to continuing the learning in the sessions ahead!

Summer means more time outdoors, but don’t let harmful UV rays put a damper on your plans. ☀️

During Sun Safety Awareness Month, remember that protecting your skin is an important part of staying healthy. UV exposure can cause skin damage and increase the risk of skin cancer, even on cloudy days.

Before heading outside:
🧴 Apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
🕶️ Wear sunglasses, a hat, and protective clothing
🌳 Seek shade when possible
⏰ Limit time in direct sunlight during peak hours

Enjoy the sunshine while protecting yourself all season long.

As students head back to school, Alabama hospitals are proud to support healthy communities both inside and outside the classroom.

From sharing health and safety tips with families to partnering with schools and educating future healthcare professionals, hospitals help promote lifelong learning and well-being across our state.

We also extend our appreciation to the teachers, administrators, and school staff who work every day to inspire and support Alabama’s students. Together, we’re helping build healthier communities for the future.

Today’s interns are tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.

On National Intern Day, we celebrate the students and emerging professionals gaining hands-on experience in Alabama hospitals and exploring careers that make a difference.

From clinical roles to technology, administration, and support services, hospital internships provide valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and discover a future in healthcare.

Thank you to the interns, mentors, and hospital teams investing in the next generation of Alabama’s healthcare workforce.
