Please see the notice below from the Village of Montgomery, IL, regarding the RESCHEDULED | Concert in the Park: Wayne Messmer Quartet now July 1.

We plan to be out there for Ice Cream with the Cops next Wednesday, July 1, from 5:30-7:30P. The first 275 visitors get a free ice cream courtesy of the Montgomery Police Department and The Montgomery Foundation.

Due to the forecasted thunderstorms and potential for hail this evening, the Village of Montgomery has chosen, out of an abundance of caution, to reschedule the much-anticipated Wayne Messmer Quartet Concert in the Park to next week, Wednesday, July 1.

The Village encourages all to join next week for this special Concert in the Park to celebrate America's 250th anniversary of independence. Which will not aptly fall three days before the actual anniversary date. The free event will feature the Wayne Messmer Quartet performing from 6:30-8:30P, but residents can arrive as early as 5:30P to take advantage of the other activities planned for the evening.

Northbound Orchard now has one lane open. Southbound remains closed. Additionally Caterpillar remains closed from Orchard to Galena Rd. (Entrance to Walmart/Dollar Tree).

This morning a semi-truck rolled over at the intersection of Orchard Rd. and Caterpillar/Mayfield Dr.

the intersection has now been closed as crews work to remove the semi and clear the roadway for safe travel.

Please avoid the area. Officers remain on scene directing traffic and ensuring safety to the community.

This week, we proudly celebrate Law Enforcement Civilian Personnel Appreciation Week and recognize the dedicated professionals who help keep the Montgomery Police Department running every day.

From records specialists and administrative staff to our social worker, public information officer, and other support personnel, these team members work behind the scenes to ensure our officers have the resources, information, and support they need to serve our community effectively. Their professionalism, commitment, and hard work are essential to our mission and vital to the services we provide our residents.

Thank you to all of our civilian personnel for your dedication, expertise, and unwavering support. We appreciate everything you do for MPD and the Montgomery community!

The Montgomery Police Department is conducting testing to establish a new Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs on Tuesday, June 23, at 6P at the police department.

We do not assess a testing fee, but advance registration/applications are due by 3P on Thursday, June 18, to be eligible to sit for the test.

The Montgomery Police Department will continue its Traffic Crash Reduction Initiative to reduce crashes and improve safety for everyone on our roads into the summer.

As a reminder, this initiative focuses on our high-traffic intersections:
- Orchard Rd. and Route 30
- Route 34 and Route 30
- Route 30 and Douglas Rd.

Data shows that most crashes occur between 2-6P on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The goal is simple: fewer crashes, fewer injuries, and safer travel for our community.

How can you help?
- Avoid distractions
- Obey posted speed limits and traffic signals
- Buckle up every trip, every time
- Follow at a safe distance
- Slow down and stay alert at busy intersections

Last week, Social Worker Lopez, Sergeant Gonzalez, and Detective Uriostegi were part of the Kendall County TRIAD picnic. This organization is a joint effort by law enforcement, seniors in the community, and senior providers to support one another with resources.

We are so honored to be part of this organization and are grateful to all who dedicate their time and talents to it. We also truly enjoyed the sweet thank-you note and cookies we received this week.
