ACTIVE INCIDENT MEDIA NOTIFICATION

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating an early-morning incident involving shots fired in the 2400 block of Mayfield Drive.

At approximately 4:00A, officers responded to a report of shots fired. The initial investigation has determined the shots were associated with a motor vehicle theft in progress. Local hospitals have reported no injuries.

LPR tracked the stolen vehicle out of the area. At this time, there is no assumed threat to the public. Police will maintain an ongoing presence in the area this morning while the investigation continues.

District 308 has been notified; however, school busing will not be delayed.

MPD is asking residents near the 2400 block of Mayfield Drive to check security camera footage from 3:30–4:10 a.m. for any activity that may assist investigators.

Today at 1P is the 41st Montgomery Fest parade. We would love to fill the streets as we celebrate our community. Come out and see the parade, followed by carnival, food, music, and more.

Please note, roads will begin to close at 12P, with hard closures beginning at 12:30P. The road closed for parade safety will reopen fully at approximately 2P.

During this time shuttles will drop off at 111 Lake St.

Fireworks will close out the fest tonight at 9P.
