When was the last time you did a tick
check?
Forest Service researchers are studying how
prescribed fire may help reduce tick
populations — and potentially lower
exposure to tick-borne diseases like Lyme
disease.
It’s another way Forest Service science
helps connect healthy landscapes with
healthier communities. Link in the

Keep bears wild; keep people safe.
Store food & scented stuff in bear‑resistant
containers or locked in your vehicle.
Make noise on trails so you don’t surprise a
bear.
Give bears space — back up and let them
do their thing.
Do not feed wildlife. Ever.
If you see a bear: stay calm, slowly back
away, and speak firmly.

🎉 Conecuh National Forest is celebrating 90 years!

Since 1936, Conecuh has grown into a thriving longleaf pine ecosystem that supports wildlife, recreation, and collaborative forest stewardship.

From longleaf restoration to habitat conservation for species like the gopher tortoise, Eastern indigo snake, and red‑cockaded woodpecker—Conecuh’s story is one of partnership and resilience.

Visit the National Forests in Alabama website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/r08/alabama to learn more about the Conecuh National Forest.
