Throughout May, law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from across the state carry the "Flame of Hope" in multiple legs of the Law Enforcement Torch Run through various Alabama cities. The statewide relay ultimately converges at Troy University where the ceremonial torch is used to light the cauldron and officially open the games. The run helps to raise funds for the athletes, increase local awareness, and promote an inclusive community.
