🕊️ Honoring a Hero: K-9 Roger 🕊️

Yesterday, we bid farewell to retired K-9 Roger, who passed peacefully at the age of 15.

Roger was a fierce and faithful Belgian Malinois who served with pride alongside Sgt. Justin Butterfield. Their partnership was built on trust, grit, and a shared mission to protect. Both retired in 2021, but Roger’s legacy continues to echo through the K-9 community he helped shape.

To the Butterfield family, we extend our heartfelt condolences. Roger wasn’t just a working dog—he was family, and his impact will never be forgotten.

1st Sgt. Jeremy Yela, K-9 Division Supervisor, shared:
“Roger was the kind of dog that made you proud to wear the badge. His drive, loyalty, and heart set the standard for what a K-9 should be. He’ll always be remembered as one of the greats.”

Rest easy, Roger. You’ve earned your wings.

🎉🐾 Happy 4th Birthday to K-9 Jett! 🐾🎉

Today we’re celebrating one of Orange County’s finest four-legged officers—K-9 Jett! This energetic and loyal partner has been serving alongside Deputy Brian Burger with unwavering dedication and heart.

Whether he’s tracking, training, or simply soaking up the love from our community, Jett brings strength, smarts, and a whole lot of tail wags to the job. His bond with Deputy Burger is the kind of partnership that defines the best of K-9 service—built on trust, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Join us in wishing Jett a paws-itively amazing birthday! Drop a 🎂 or 🐶 in the comments to show him some love!

Outstanding Job to Dep. Solomon and his partner K-9 Enzo! Also a big shout out to the other Deputies that assisted on scene.

🚨 DOMESTIC INCIDENT – CAMPBELL HALL 🚨

This past Sunday night, Deputies responded to a domestic incident involving a gunshot in the Campbell Hall area. Upon arrival, they observed 25-year-old male in the driveway. He was immediately detained.

Following interviews with the family, it was determined that after a verbal argument, the suspect retrieved a handgun, exited into the backyard, and fired a round toward the woods. When Deputies arrived, the weapon was no longer in his possession.

Deputy Luke Solomon and his K-9 partner Enzo initiated a track and evidence search through a large field, wooded area, and ravine behind the home. After several minutes, K-9 Enzo tracked into a water-filled area and alerted to the firearm—partially submerged in mud. The search continued, and moments later, K-9 Enzo located a loaded magazine hidden beneath high grass near the ravine.

With the firearm and magazine recovered, the suspect was transported to the Sheriff’s Office and charged with:

🔹 Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony)
🔹 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
🔹 Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)

He was arraigned and released pending a future County Court date.

We commend Deputy Solomon and K-9 Enzo for their outstanding work in locating critical evidence and ensuring the safety of all involved.

Please note: Criminal charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
