🔥 TIFMAS Deployment Update – Tanker 31 & Engine 36 🔥

Our crews continue to answer the call across Texas as part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).

🚒 Tanker 31 was originally assigned to Abilene before being reassigned to the West Fork Fire, just west of Junction. The crew spent the past five days working alongside firefighters from fire departments across the state, providing critical water supply for fire suppression operations. The crew drafted water from several stock tanks to support firefighting efforts on the 961-acre fire.

Yesterday, Tanker 31 was reassigned to Fort Davis, Texas, in the Davis Mountains. They are now assigned to the Webster Fire, where they will continue providing a reliable water supply to crews working to suppress the fire and protect the surrounding communities.

🚒 Engine 36 is also deployed and currently operating in Rocksprings, Texas. Working alongside several other fire departments, the crew is providing fire protection for Edwards County while local resources are committed to the ongoing wildfire response.

We are proud of our firefighters for stepping up to assist communities across Texas.

At the direction of Montgomery County Judge Keough, our office will activate the Emergency Operations Center at Level 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. today. The EOC will remain activated until the threats associated with Tropical Storm Edouard have passed.

Our team will closely monitor conditions, coordinate with our public-safety partners and position resources to respond as needed. Please remain weather-aware and continue monitoring official sources for updates.

The low pressure system we have been monitoring for the past few days is now identified as potential tropical cyclone five. Should PTC5 strengthen it will become Tropical Storm Edouard.

At this time we are not expecting any significant impacts from this system.

However we will see our rain chances increase starting late tonight into Wednesday.

A flood watch has been issued for Montgomery County until September 2 at 7:00 A.M.

A few tips to keep in mind:

With limited rainfall these past few weeks the roads will be very slick initially when rainfall commences. Please allow extra spacing and slow down!

The ground is not primed for absorbing the initial rain as it is very hard and excessive rainfall could produce localized flash flooding. Turn around don't drown!

Keep an umbrella handy through Wednesday!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Captain Castillo and all of our brothers and sisters at Porter Fire Department, MCESD 6, following the loss of Captain Castillo after his courageous battle with cancer.

🔥 MCESD 3 Answers the Call! 🔥

Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 3 is answering the call from the State of Texas to assist communities impacted by wildfires across the state.

MCESD 3 proudly participates in the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), allowing Texas fire departments to come together and provide assistance when communities need it most.

This morning, Lieutenant Little and Engineer Landry are taking Tanker 31 to West Texas. They will join firefighters from departments across the state to assist with wildfire suppression and help protect Texas communities and their residents.

We are proud of our firefighters for stepping up and representing MCESD 3. Please keep Lieutenant Little, Engineer Landry, and all of the firefighters responding to these wildfires in your thoughts as they work to keep others safe.
