With the aftermath of the thunderstorms, please be aware of dangers. This includes power lines, down trees and water over the roadway. Please be safe and aware of your surroundings!

If storms have already moved through, or yet to move through, remember what to do after the storms move through and power is out.

Please give grace and patience to those working on power lines and first responders. They have A LOT to do, and they may be battling various issues, like trees on lines that sparked a fire, trees over roadways, etc. Listen to first responders and emergency management and follow what they say.

If you don't have cell service, but want to let everyone know you're okay, record a voicemail message. That way, they'll still hear an update from you.

If there are powerlines down on the road, don't drive over the lines!

If you try to run a generator, make sure it is outside (not in the garage), with proper ventilation. Be cautious of how long food is in the fridge. Know how long your power is out so you know if the food goes bad.

If you have reports of trees down or damage, let us know! We may or may not know of specific areas, so your info helps us a lot!

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Lowndes County in south central Alabama...
Montgomery County in south central Alabama...

* Until 545 PM CDT.

* At 421 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Martin Dam to Burnsville, moving southeast at
50 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Montgomery, Fort Deposit, Mosses, Hayneville, Meadville, Pike Road,
White Hall, Gordonville, Lowndesboro, Benton, Hyundai Motors Of
Alabama, Auburn University In Montgomery, Dublin, Woodcrest,
Snowdoun, Sellers, Ramer, Waugh, Lagoon Park, and Alabama State
University.

Plan now for storms this afternoon. We are only at a level 1 risk for damaging winds and hail between 3pm and 6pm. So might be a challenging commute home during the afternoon rush. Will update if anything changes.

7:55am UPDATE: The Level 2 of 5 (Slight Risk) has been expanded to include a larger portion of Central Alabama through this afternoon with a little higher chance of seeing an isolated damaging wind gust. Timing remains the same.

6/1, 6:30am: More scattered to numerous showers & storms will be upon us by this afternoon, developing to our NW and moving SE. Gusty winds & hail will be the primary hazards roughly from 11am to 6pm. Folks with outdoor plans during this timeframe should stay weather aware, and we'll keep you updated with the latest forecast trends and radar updates.
