GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth (R-AL) on Monday announced that the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama (P&CMA) has endorsed the lieutenant governor’s 2022 reelection bid.
“The benefits of having a true businessperson as Lt. Governor cannot be overstated. We are honored to stand with Lt. Governor Ainsworth, and we look forward to his reelection and the progress that his continued leadership will bring to Alabama,” said Jim Parr of Parr’s Inc., who currently serves as P&CMA board chairman.
Formed in 1949 as the Alabama Petroleum Marketers Association, the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama is the statewide trade association representing Alabama’s wholesale and retail petroleum marketers and retail convenience store operators. Today, P&CMA’s 200 member companies own, operate, and/or supply more than 2,500 retail locations statewide, accounting for approximately 70% of motor fuel sales in Alabama. The association’s membership employs thousands of Alabama citizens and collects and remits hundreds of millions of dollars annually in motor fuels and sales taxes. In addition, P&CMA members supply greases, oils, hydraulic fluids and other specialty products to Alabama’s manufacturing and agriculture industries. In short, they fuel Alabama’s economic engine.
“No matter the challenge, from severe weather to the COVID pandemic, we can count on P&CMA members to keep Alabama fueled, providing critical services to the people of our great state,” said Ainsworth. “I’m proud to have their endorsement, and I look forward to continuing to build a vibrant 21st century economy in which all Alabama families can thrive. This all starts with education and workforce development – the fuel of our economy. I am laser-focused on building an Alabama in which all of our children have the opportunity to earn a good living, regardless of where they come from.”
Elected as Lt. Governor in 2018, Ainsworth has been a strong conservative reformer and staunch advocate for jobs and high-quality public education programs. He chairs the Military Stability Commission and has helped passed legislation to make Alabama the most military- and veteran-friendly state in the country.
Ainsworth is also national chair of the Aerospace States Association and is excited to see Space Command Headquarters coming to Alabama. He launched an Aerospace Internship program, as well as an Aerospace Supplier program.
Additionally, Ainsworth chairs the Small Business Commission and is unflinchingly committed to lower taxes, slashing regulations, and giving small businesses fair opportunities to compete and prosper. Will also has a passion for workforce development and has already secured funding in our K-12 schools as well as community colleges with a goal to make Alabama the nation’s workforce engine.
