. The 70s saw many accomplishments for the Retirement Systems of Alabama. Dr. Bronner was named fourth Secretary-Treasurer of the RSA in 1973, and a new office building was authorized at the close of 1975, to be completed by 1977. It was the main administrative building for the RSA until 2008.

The first Annual Report was published in 1976, and for the first time, the RSA’s total assets reached over $1 billion. The mission of the RSA remains the same as it was then: to secure the best investments and services for our membership and to do everything possible to help our members prepare for and enjoy a successful retirement.

The PEEHIP Board of Control meeting, the Alabama Retired Education Employees’ Health Care Trust meeting, and the TRS Board of Control meeting are on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The PEEHIP Board of Control meeting will begin at 9 a.m., followed immediately by the Alabama Retired Education Employees’ Health Care Trust meeting, and then the TRS Board of Control meeting.

RSA Members can watch the meetings live online at rsalive.org. The video recordings of the meetings will be available on our website and shared on social media.

Any public official or employee of the state of Alabama, supernumeraries, and those eligible employees under §36-27-6, or any political subdivision thereof is eligible to participate in the RSA-1 Deferred Compensation Plan, regardless of age or participation in the RSA.
