The mission of the Montgomery ISD Police Department is to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff. Our collective goal is to work with our campus administrators to help educate and produce graduates who are fully enabled to successfully engage as responsible and contributing members of a rapidly changing society.

As we prepare for a new school year, I had the privilege of meeting with leadership from every Montgomery County ISD to discuss school safety, House Bill 33 updates, and the steps we’re taking together to make this school year the safest yet.

House Bill 33 requires Sheriffs to meet with school districts, and I am proud that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is leading the way by working proactively with our education partners. The safety of our students, teachers, and staff is a responsibility we all share, and I remain fully committed to ensuring Montgomery County is prepared, coordinated, and focused on keeping our schools safe.

When law enforcement and our schools work together, our entire community is stronger. Together, we’ll continue doing everything possible to protect what matters most, our children.

The Montgomery ISD Police Department extends our heartfelt condolences to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on the loss of Deputy Erika Serrato.

We honor Deputy Serrato’s dedicated service and commitment to her community. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, fellow deputies, and all of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.

Last week, it was my honor to swear in a very special young man, Drake, as an Honorary Deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

For the past two years, Drake has faced challenges that most people will never experience. Yet through it all, he has demonstrated extraordinary courage, resilience, faith, and a servant’s heart. Even while battling cancer, he continues to encourage others and inspire fellow children facing similar battles.

One of the most meaningful moments of the ceremony was watching his grandfather, MCSO Sergeant Mark Gallion, proudly pin on Drake’s badge. Standing alongside him was his grandmother, Montgomery ISD Police Department Lieutenant Becky Gallion, whose love, support, and dedication have helped carry Drake through this journey.

I also want to recognize Drake’s parents, Danielle and Jerel Green. Their unwavering love, strength, and faith have been a constant source of encouragement and inspiration.

This honor was about much more than a badge. It was about recognizing a young man whose character, perseverance, and spirit embody the very qualities we value most: courage, integrity, and service to others.

Drake, you are part of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office family, and we are proud to call you one of our own. Thank you for reminding all of us what true strength looks like.
