Last week, Major Cory Vines, State Military Department Deputy Director Casey Rogers, and I had the privilege of meeting with every member of Alabama's congressional delegation during our visits to Capitol Hill.

We discussed the National Guard's priorities of People, Readiness, Transformation, and Partnership and how continued congressional support strengthens our ability to care for our service members and families, maintain a ready force, modernize for tomorrow's challenges, and build partnerships at home and abroad.

Thank you to Alabama's congressional delegation for taking the time to meet with us, hear directly about the needs of our Soldiers and Airmen, and support the men and women of the Alabama National Guard. Together, we are, “Always Ready, Always There!”

We had a great engagement at the Pentagon last week to discuss enhancing ALNG-Romania’s Partnership and defense cooperation. A special thanks to National Guard Bureau Vice Chief General Tom Carden, Romania Deputy Chief of Defense Lieutenant General Iulian Berdilã and Romania Defense, Military, Air and Naval Attaché Brigadier General Florin-Vasile Tomiuc for productive discussions and a commitment to the State Partnership Program.

Last week, I was honored to join my fellow cabinet members and lawmakers for a legislative luncheon on the North Terrace of the Capitol. Thank you, Governor Kay Ivey for hosting us and for leading another successful legislative session for our Soldiers and Airmen.

Our Command Team continues to invest in the development of our force at every level!

CSM Bailey and I recently engaged directly with students in the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership Course and the Company Commander and First Sergeant Pre-Command Course. These courses reinforce the critical role leaders play in building ready, disciplined, and capable formations.

We challenged our Soldiers and Airmen to think critically about leadership and refocus on basic combat skills. Our strength as an organization starts at this level, and what we observed at Fort McClellan Training Center gives us a lot of confidence in where we are heading.

Developing leaders remains central to our readiness—ensuring the Alabama National Guard is prepared to respond, support, and succeed whenever called.

Last week, I was honored to join the Alabama Military Stability Foundation for their Military Appreciation Day Ceremony at the Alabama State House. As I mentioned in the Joint Legislative Session, ultimately our faith sustains us in difficult times, but I find an abundance of hope in the leadership of this great state who are committed to supporting the extraordinary service and sacrifice of our men and women. I take great pride in leading and serving alongside the most committed and talented force in our country—Alabama’s Soldiers and Airmen. Their service to our state and nation is exemplary.

Thank you to the Military Stability Foundation for coordinating the event and a special thanks to the Honorable Stephen Simmons, Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Military and Family Policy for joining us in Alabama!
